    It was never a red card. But if the ref at the time said that the player was out of control in the tackle and had two feet forwards, which he deemed dangerous, then we weren’t going to win any appeal.

    The FA will only ever overrule a sending off when the referees statement of the event is completely overruled by video evidence.

    I wonder whether had the referee had access to VAR that he would have been in a better position to change his mind without all of the nonsense that has been going on over the last week.

    Maybe.
    But we stood our ground and put down a marker to the FA that little ‘ol Watford don’t just roll over and let their tummy be tickled.
