A very shrewd buy. Was on the fence with this one but he seems to be playing with a smile on his face which can only be a bonus for us.
Anyone notice Ranieri talking to him after the game? Speculating but I think it was for taking his shirt off and picking up another yellow card.
Playing well this season ,but please stop getting booked for stupid things ,maybe ranieri will start fining him, may stop him
Massively spot on. His value ATM must be more than Sarr. He is a better all round player and is backing it up with results. And attitude is 100 times better.
He’s superb. Full of desire to impact the game, and one those forwards who are a constant menace for defenders. Loads of pace, strong on the ball, and willing to do the dirty work. Not to mention, him and King link up really well and compliment each other nicely. He’ll get a petulant red card before long, but that side of his game is part of what makes him such a nuisance for the opposition.
Superb signing. Best business we did this summer. How on earth did we find this guy ? Whichever agent brought him to us deserves a huge thank you - wonder if he has any more players he could pass our way ?
Absolute class act , with a superb work ethic . I reckon he will have a strop at some point given his track record but I’m going to enjoy watching him in the mean time .
Barelylegal found a link saying he was linked with Mogi on the original transfer thread for him, not sure if he's actually his agent though
I still cry inside at the thought of us replacing Geri with Pereyra, true pain seeing him lumber down the wing after lockdown
He’s clearly better than us. I can’t believe that’s it’s just because of some incident on a coach that he hadn’t gone to one of the big boys. I wonder if he had posters of Tommy Mooney on his wall when he was a kid.
On one of the myriad posts on r/soccer yesterday a Brugge fan responded to me with some pretty good insight into this, actually:
So we'll turn down an offer for him in January and he'll down tools for the rest of the season. Looking forward to that.
Given what wages are like in Belgium, I'd imagine the boost in what he's now getting here even under Gino will be enough to keep him feeling focused until the summer (and not a moment longer).
Well, if he's called up to the AFCON that'll probably take up most of his attention then tbf, if he doesn't get called up...well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it
Deserves better than to be playing in a relegation haunted team. It's soul destroying to be so ace yet surrounded by absolute shyt. I can relate as it's how I feel as a poster on this forum.
He's not going to be here beyond this season. He's absolute class and should only get better. The only upside is he was a £4m signing that we'll be selling for £40m, if he carries on. Then that should give us to sign a 33 year old centre back from the Belgian league on a free transfer some time in summer.
All those endless threads and debates about whether we could ever sign a proven PL striker, with the conclusion eventually being even someone like Chris Wood would be miles out of our grasp and budget, so we shouldn’t even bother thinking about it. Now we finally get one for less than £4m and he is better than any striker any of us could’ve ever dreamed of, but we’re so shyte elsewhere in the squad we won’t be able to hang on to him for more than a few months. Very Watfordy.
Ive heard it's his dream to play in the Championship. Honestly, can you imagine him taking the piss against the filth? Glorious.
The way he's playing right now, is a massive boost to us. He is clearly a top 6 player, especially if he keeps his head in the right place. At the moment it is. He is working hard for the team, and is enjoying himself. However, with a personality like him, I think you've got to accept, it could all go very wrong quickly. He's had problems at Brugge and Cologne as well as a run-in with his international coach. So he needs careful handling. Having said that, he's extremely gifted and that can only benefit Watford. Even now, he's got be be worth around £50m in the January window, not that we'd sell him then, but it wouldn't surprise me if the big clubs come sniffing.....maybe even Newcastle. I would say just enjoy him while he's here. He's happy and enjoying his football......and I'm enjoying his football. He seems to have found a home from home, with the club having a large Nigerian pool of players, including the national captain. It must be very good for him to be in that environment.
Crazy that he's only a few months older than Sarr. Potentially hasn't even hit is peak yet, what a signing
100% this. His mentality controls his game. You can see that he is getting confident in his own ability but he's also prone to overconfidence. He's matching his ability with teamwork at the moment, but Ighalo went downhill when he started getting selfish when the goals stopped flowing. All is looking very good at the moment though and his combination play with Kiko and Cleverley has been fantastic to watch lately.
Thing is, considering Daniel James was sold for 30 million, I’d like to think we could get even more than 40 million for Dennis.
It would probably be a false economy to sell him at this stage though as we will need him to help us retain our PL status. Having said that if we could get BIG money for him in the summer and we used it to STRENGTHEN the team overall that might be worth considering, but we should certainly not sell him until then if at all.
Strikes me as the sort of player who would really enjoy playing for Ranieri, a manager known for the relationships he builds with players, and who perhaps has the ability to put an arm around Dennis when things aren’t going so well, and coax him back into form. He seems to be enjoying his football at the minute, and the confidence is flowing through all that he does. It’s brilliant to see a player in this type of form. Beyond the technical ability he has is the mentality he brings, and the desire to be a constant problem for the opposition, whether through work-rate, skill, or just being a bit of a knobhead. He plays with a proper edge to his game.
Oh yes I obviously agree that we shouldn’t sell him now, I mean when it comes to selling him I genuinely think we should be looking for £50 million+ if he can carry on form like this.
