    Nope, I shave.:]]

In all seriousness having spent 10 years supporting macs & pcs for a living I would choose a PC every time.

PCs are cheaper and hardware wise more reliable. Macs look nice and their operating system is more robust and intuitive but you need to spend 2-3 times as much to get the same features & performance. Compatibility problems are getting less but still big enough to be annoying.

Each to their own but if you go mac, I'd avoid imac as they tend to be lower spec models with less ability to upgrade/enhance.

Mind you mac users tend to get a bit heated over this debate, for some reason they are very passionate about their computers.

    Exactly what Hornmeister said.

I would consider an Intel Mac due to speed and flexibilty with operating systems, you can pick up a mini system for less than £400, but for a decent system you're looking at £1000+. Wouldn't get an I-Mac.

You get so much more for your money with a PC.

brumhorn, get a PC and stick Mandriva Linux on it.

Much more useful than Windoze or any Mac.

Agreed. Linux is worth investigating as a system but I would recommend Windows also as a fall back for compatibility.

I have a mac, it is not the best computer ever but I like it. The reason I bought a mac is because I couldn't be bothered with Windows any more (before I switched I was suffering with WindowsNT). My mac has problems now and again but I can fix them easier than I could when I used windows.

I am going to continue buying macs because I prefer using them. Not because they are better / Steve Jobs blah blah blah but because I want to buy one!

My advice is get what you feel comfortable using. Once you take into account the pros and cons, windows and OSX are almost a much of a muchness now.
