As someone I think pointed out earlier, we are the top scorers outside of the top 6, so we aren’t struggling for goals and doing very well without a prolific striker. We had a prolific striker in the PL once, as soon as they stopped scoring we were completely farked and we certainly look a much better team now than we did back then. I think it’s slightly nonsensical to say if we had a decent strikers we would’ve beaten Everton. We surrendered a two goal lead and missed a penalty, you shouldn’t have to score at least there or four goals to win a football match! Burnley have 12 goals and have 4 more points than us. We have more goals than any team below us, so how on earth are these teams managing to any points at all if even we need to be scoring more goals to win games?

 

Outside the top 6 we have the joint 2nd highest goalscorer, Richarlison with 5 just behind vardy on 6. I'm not 100% what I'm saying with this stat, but I'm chucking it into the conversation anyway!

 

I think we're doing just fine without a prolific goalscorer.

Other teams may require one, by not us. When you see the creativity we have going forward, it's not a problem.

 

Whats wrong with Okaka, why is he not getting a look in, does anyone know? I think he could be at least a 15 goal a season striker if he was given a chance, judging by the way he started the season.

 

Sorry, I thought that was what you were suggesting when you said it is advantageous not relying on "just one man".

All I am saying is that if we had a mobile player up front, who is also a considerable threat as a goalscorer, then he would be more of a threat to an opposition (thereby needing more attention) than say Gray. I don't really see why that is confusing - although you may disagree.

 

If Gray had converted those air shots, chances and scuffs he's had through the season he'd be well on the way and we would be 4th.

 

Gray will come good. Deeney has the potential, he's done it before. Do we need one? No not yet. It would be nice but I think we're OK. January is not the time to be buying one and getting one on loan begs the question why are they being loaned out.

Was having a think earlier and I reckon Fabio Quagliarella could do a real job for us. I know he's old and slow but he's got so much class and has an eye for a pass. Could be cheap in January too.

 

We only need a prolific striker if he can also prolifically defend too.
