DJ Campbell is locked in talks with Watford, skysports.com can confirm. Birmingham are seemingly ready to let Campbell depart with Garry O'Connor and Daniel de Ridder having arrived at St Andrews this summer, and Mido set to follow. Leicester also lodged a bid earlier this week, but Watford too have now joined the chase for his signature. Campbell is now having talks with both clubs and is considering his options. Campbell joined Birmingham in January 2006, but has found his first-team chances limited under Steve Bruce - starting just 19 league games. Meanwhile, Birmingham have allowed young defender Sam Oji to join Southend on trial. The 21-year-old, who has one year left on his current deal at City, will spend the next month at Roots Hall.
If we got him and HH and sold Hendo which seems likely our top 5 strikers would be: King, HH, Campbell, Priskin and although it pains me to say it Kabba. Surely that means Ashikodi and Hoskins are out because Hoskins will not get a look in with all that lot, neither will Ashikodi. Robinson will go on loan so he doesn't count.

Seems the most likely option to me. I like Hendo but HH is miles better in so many ways and although I'm not a big fan of DJ Campbell he could well add something. Though I reckon he'd be a replacement for Kabba.
