DAVE REDDIN, a fitness and conditioning coach, is the latest member of Sir Clive Woodward's backroom team Aidy Boothroyd has sought the services of.

Sacked by the Rugby Football Union after nearly a decade of service with the national side, Reddin is working on a consultancy basis at Vicarage Road for the next two months.

Dave Aldred, a specialist kicking coach, has also been down to the UCL training ground this season.

"Dave Reddin has come in to do an audit," said the manager.

"He's looking at how we do things on the medical and conditioning side of things. He's helping us to see if we can improve off the pitch.

"When you are where we are at and at a disadvantage before you begin we have got to take on everything extra that can give you that extra one-per cent.

    Interesting.

Last season we were almost undoubtedly the quickest and fittest team in the Championship. However, I've been surprised at how much sharper and more enduring many of the players in the Premiership are by comparison, particularly considering I thought pace and stamina would be two areas in which would do quite well. We've conceded far too many goals near the end of games.

Aidy must have recognised this as well.

unfortuately it will suit our "territorial" (kick it into touch in their area) tactics quite well! A kicking expert ffs? Another season of long ball then!

i dont think its a bad move, it is only to bring our fitness up to par! He wont be doing anything else so i cant see a problem!

LOL - Every time we bring the ball forwards then punt out to concede a throw in deep in the opponent's half, I muse to my brother that in Rugby, this would be a great chance for an attacking line out, tip it back to the pack who can drive for the line. Unfortunately, in the real sport of football, it is just cak play.

I had a go at being a fitness consultant.

    It's a very dangerous job.

I was hired to instruct a class of lesbians, and I was lucky to get away alive.

They went mad, screaming: "are you calling us c***s?"

All I said was: "you are what you eat."
