It isn't just training methods, but also that we now have a squad of players who *want* to play. Some last season were having weekends off whenever they liked it.
After slowly being eased back (playing a half against Aldershot on 7th Jan and subsequently playing the last 10/15 mins in 3 league games since) into football after a lengthy spell out, he came on today and lasted all of 10 mins before getting injured again. Bullet dodged.
Feel like today was ultimate confirmation that, sadly, he is at Jack Wilshere levels of having a body that is just physically incapable of sustaining a career in (relatively) high-level professional football.
That reminds me of an unusual day at work. The cornet section of the band were choosing new cornets at the Boosey & Hawkes factory. They had about 20 nominally identical cornets from which to choose 6 (iirc) - not just the “best” 6, but the 6 that sounded best together. To do this they played the same couple of tunes over and over and over again. My office was just above them.
