Not sure if anyones read this already but apparently we're watching a guy called Danny Blanchett who plays for Cambridge City along with Everton and West Brom.
Bit more info, he's 19, a left back and he's just completed a two week trial at Liverpool
There manager is quoted as saying "Danny is good enough for a much higher level" I've checked this out with a mate who plays for them who says a scout from Watford has been there recently!

Sounds like a very good idea to bring in a left back. We can't expect Jordan Parkes to step up just yet and Chris Powell should hang up his boots this summer.

Found a Liverpool forum who have already done the work on this kid.... sounds an awful lot more impressive than I first thought...............

    Another youngster, I couldn't find this on the Mirrors site but;

Not much around about this boy, i got this from the Cambridge Evening News (I guess it a southern version of the Echo or summit?)

    http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/sport/football/2007/02/23/61132c2c-1a78-4fa4-9815-65afe197a5f9.lpf

Cambridge City star Danny Blanchett could be on the verge of a move to Premiership Liverpool.

The 19-year-old Lilywhites left-back has been invited for a 14-day trial with the Merseyside club. He started training with the Liverpool reserves today (Friday, 23 February) at their headquarters at Melwood and will get a couple of run outs for the B team next week.

The FA Cup holders have scouted Blanchett four or five times so far this season before deciding to get left-footer in for a closer look.

A delighted Blanchett, who watched the Reds reserves at Wrexham last night, said: "I am chuffed to bits, but it is all a bit hard to take in .

"I am a bit nervous, but I will just let my football do the talking. Liverpool obviously like the way I play otherwise they wouldn't have brought me over."

Blanchett also paid tribute to his current manager Gary Roberts, adding: "Gary Roberts is one of the best managers I have played under. He has helped me with my game and has given me the chance to play at a decent level at a young age."

Meanwhile Roberts is happy for the youngster and former QPR trainee, who moved to Milton Road from Harrow Borough in March 2006.

The City boss said: "He has missed a large part of the season with injuries but he has been a good player for us. Liverpool have sent their southern scouts to watch him five times, so he'll go and train with them.

"He has played most of the season at left-back, but he can play all over. It is great for the club to attract that sort of attention.

"We never want to hold any of the lads back.

A lot of our players from last season moved up to Conference level and Danny will get his chance with Liverpool."

This is good news for those who say we don't employ enough homegrown talent.

    Reds to make Blanchett decision

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/6420805.stm

Cambridge City expect Liverpool to make a decision this week on whether they want to sign defender Danny Blanchett.
The 18-year-old full-back, rated between £25,000 and £50,000, has just returned to Cambridge after a two-week trial with Liverpool.

The Conference South club's manager Gary Roberts said: "I believe Liverpool will make a decision as to where they go with it this week.

"He enjoyed his trial tremendously and the set-up there was so professional."

Roberts added: "Maybe one or two other clubs don't look as hard as they should and it's funny the interest we've had now he's been on trial at a club like that.

"There are other clubs interested from all levels now, including the Premiership.

"We're not interested in making money out of Dan. We're interested in his development so we're not looking at a massive fee."

We are now even looking to sign back-up for our reserve squad(Insua).
But I do like the idea of landing the maximum amount of hot prospects as we all know that very few will make it to the highest level. It's also better to capture too many youngsters than to see them linked with other major clubs.

Liverpool are expected to make a decision on trialist Danny Blanchett later this week.

The 18-year-old has returned to Cambridge City after undergoing a two-week trial at Anfield.

The player's manager at Cambridge, Gary Roberts, believes Blanchett, who would likely cost The Reds between £25,000 and £50,000, is capable of making the grade.

"I believe Liverpool will make a decision as to where they go with it this week and obviously we've had interest from other clubs," said Roberts.

"He enjoyed his trial tremendously and the set up there was so professional.

"Everyone was nice to him and the players were especially friendly, so he's only got good things to say about it.

"In terms of technique, he's as good as a pro now and there are aspects he would improve on if he went professional anyway."

I've seen this lad.... he is good. he has a brilliant left foot, and when i saw him, he was tackling all over the place. and against guys twice his size, certainly not afraid to get stuck in.

with all that interest from the scosers I think we are way out of the running unless it is to loan him after they buy him.

Says he was invited to come and train with us, but decided to sign for Peterborough so he'd get first team football. Fair play to the lad for putting playing football ahead of a bigger contract.

Looks like he wants to get first team action so he cant get more experince and become a better player.
Also so can join a bigger team later on in his career.
