On the Danish football site www.bolddk.com there is an article claiming that Watford have offered a trial to Christoffer Poulsen from Viborg FF - a club in the bottom half of the Danish SuperLeague.

Poulsen is a quick left winger with an eye for goal. He has been a part of the Denmark B squad and is a decent player. I can't see him making the grade at Watford though.

    He is 25 years old.

Isn't it a rule that anyone called 'Poulsen' is blindingly brilliant though?

What do you base that theory on Moose?

    Er...not much.

There was Flemming Poulsen and ..er.. the other one.

Not to mention Pauli 'won't pass today' Poulsen the 'Viborg Viking' from the 1920's.

Actually remebering suddenly what Christian P got up to the other day I take it all back.

The thing is - Christian Poulsen is probably the most important player for the Danish National side - which makes his faux-pas even worse.

Flemming - now there was someone truly brilliant. Denmark had a decent set of wingers back then with Brian Laudrup and Flemming Poulsen. Those were the days... when Denmark won EURO92 :D

I guess you would have to say they were the best because they won something, but the 1986 Danish team for the world cup were fantastic to watch.

Actually the most common view is that the 86 team was the best ever. They lost to Spain following a collective collapse but had the potential to go all the way that year. The same team lost to Spain in the Euro84 semifinals also beating England at Wembley 1-0 during qualifying. At the time that was probably the biggest result for a Danish national side ever.

The 98 team that lost to Brasil in the quarter finals is my second on the list closely followed by the 92 side.

The thing is the 92 side gets underestimated. It truly was one of the best sides in Europe at the time. Not only did we beat Germany in the final but also a Dutch team with Van Basten, Ruud Gullitt and Franck Rijkaart in the semifinal. Big results both of them.
