I saw our fans on twitter describing it as a wonder goal, and that he was therefore not to blame.

Imo it was both - it was a wonder goal with great technique to keep the ball like that and then get the shot away - but also it was from an incredibly tight angle at his near post where he shouldn't be getting beaten from.

I don't know why he went to ground, stay on his feet and he probably saves it surely.

Porto did his job and blocked the shot across goal with the sliding tackle, all DB had to do was stay big and protect the front post. Really poor, and makes me think he lost concentration due to having so little to do during the game.

That was the most frustrating part. A wonderful tackle went without reward.

He also made a definite move out and away from his near post, I assume cos he’d forward guessed that Hedges would shoot across goal…utter madness as there was no Blackburn player that was in support so no real danger from such an attempt. That probably also explains why he was already collapsing a little, so he could deal with the cross-shot. Terrible decision making, but no real surprise.

Not excusing it all, he 100% should've done better from there! But fantastic technique from Hedges in the build-up to the shot.

I see Louza isn't getting any blame for a lazy pass and a weak arse challenge.

Was good skill originally but he seemed to be easily beaten .

I think he wanted to make a foul to stop the attack but couldn't because he was incorrectly booked just before

Was he incorrectly booked? I thought Kayembe got his feet in a pickle and presented their midfielder the ball, was breaking forward and Louza cynically (but not dangerously tripped him)? Might be misremembering but thought it was the most obvious yellow you could wish to see.

Louza did actually have a half hearted attempt to swipe the player's trailing leg for the goal, can't work out if he pulled out of it to avoid the second yellow or the guy was just too quick for him.

Louza was already on a booking wasn't he? Plus Blackburn were about 80 yards away from our goal when Louza misplaced his pass, not sure he can really be blamed.

I also thought Louza’s booking was fair; Hoedt’s was very borderline…it probably looked cynical from the ref’s position, but I’m not sure it was deliberate. Andrews got booked on the ‘revenge foul’ principle. But how Travis didn’t get booked at least I can’t fathom.

  15. Carpster

Why? He gave the ball away, he was slow to react, poor, poor attempt at a tackle. They attack and score. No DB should of done better but Louza is responsible.

It was one of those that always get given and look like a clear yellow, but from the replay, the attacker knew exactly what he was doing, felt a small touch on the arm and fell on the floor to get Louza booked. Sadly the ref bought it, which meant Louza had to walk a tightrope for the attack that lead to the goal.

Personally I don't see how he can be responsible when the opposition still made it the full length of the pitch getting past several other Watford players in the process.

Louza has multiple jobs to do on the pitch. Run, pass, shoot, score, tackle, dribble, take players on etc, and he messed up with one of them.

Bachmann has JUST ONE job. And he f ucked it up.

    Again.

    Just like every week.

That's unfair. It doesn't happen every week. For example, there's an international break coming up and he'll go two weeks without making a glaring disastrous error that costs us points.

I thought people have been questioning the fact that we've also this season tried to make him in to a sweeper keeper and a ball-playing keeper, as well as getting him to come off his line more for crosses.

For once in this game he actually didn't screw up those parts at all.

In earlier games he'd been screwing up the ball-playing part but been solid on the other goalkeeping parts.

Maybe he'll have a game soon where he gets all the parts right.

  21. Carpster

Because he's the one who gave the ball away. If he didn't they wouldn't have the opportunity to score.

He misplaced a pass on the edge of the Blackburn box and sensibly didn't risk picking up a second yellow in the aftermath because he had 3 or 4 teammates on the cover. I'd be looking at his teammates if we're blaming anyone.

Being so **** the authorities think it is match-fixing and we get docked points. Some of his antics against Plymouth should warrant an investigation.

He's hardly the only keeper to look shaky on the ball tbf though.

They all do it and take the risk.

As an ex professional footballer ( your words) you should known that you never make a back pass between the goal posts.

Sadly I was never a professional footballer.

And I agree, it was a risky back pass, but it should have been comfortably dealt with.

  32. Moosedog

That is why you never pass the ball back there because keepers aren't usually great with their feet and a simple mistake can end up in the goal. VI seem to think it was a Hoedt mistake. By the way I did play non league for eight seasons

As someone who regularly played Sunday league incredibly hungover, the best option is to hoof it as far away as you can so you can do as little as possible whilst trying not to throw up all over the opposition

From one excellent player to another, glad we are in agreement that Bachmann made an error.
