Ive just got to ask... have Damien Francis performances really been as bad as people are making out? I havent been able to get to many games this season due to my rubbish silver status membership and work and child committments but ive noticed recently, mainly on these boards, that he's coming in for quite some stick and there are even rumours that he might be on his way Who knows what????
The latest bout of criticism is justified. The stick he was getting around a month or so ago was a little harsh and i stuck up for him then but not anymore. He doesn't look interested, passing has been poor and his commitment to the fight appears to be lacking. For one and a half million we've been taken for a ride. There haven't been rumours about him leaving merely wishful statements and suggestions by myself (not bubble;D) that he should be offered with £3M for Earnshaw.
yes he has been very poor. it does not matter if he starts or comes of the bench he makes little impact.
Just there for the wage packet .... Sadly Give him ONE more chance and if he doesn't impress stick him in with the stiffs. Must admit I was sceptical when we signed him as Paul Jewell is no mug.
I agree he has been poor but we did need another midfielder - he is better than Springy imo. Not worth his fee, however!
If you look at the SkySports Watford squad list where they have ratings also, Francis hasn't been bad. Not even if you look at the ratings the fans have given. http://home.skysports.com/squadlist.aspx?clid=57&cpid=8&tydna=1 He averages 6.1 in the SSN rating and 6.4 in the fans ratings. To compare, Jay gets 6.1 and Big-Dan gets 6.2 in the SSN ratings and AlBang gets 6.3 in the fans ratings. I think the view of Francis' performances are coloured by his latest performances. No doubt he's had a dip in form, but he can still be an assett to the team. I think the fact that for a while we had no real challenger to his starting berth made him complacent. Now with Aidy preferring AlBang AND with Willo Machine (are we adopting the nick?) coming in as an attacking option - I hope he can get his shyte together and produce the goods. Otherwise - send him packing.
His perfomances have been poor, not all of them. Is it a case that we expect high standards from him from the price we paid? or the fact that he has a years prem experience? Either way he is not performing how he can and we know he can.
Although his ability this season can be questioned, his attitude is perhaps not as bad as people seem to think. When he came off on Saturday you could see he was unhappy, he desperatly wants to prove himself to the Watford faithful. If you cast your minds back to the first 5-6 games, he was probably our best player, so there is no doubt that he can still do a job for us.
I think he is not used to our style of long ball football, and he just doesnt get enough of the ball when we play it better on the floor. I have been dissapointed but then look at how much Via... Viall... t0553r spent on carp players, this may just be a glitch by Aidy. He did seem to have a go at Aidy when he came off against Stockport, could be on his way out? How much would we get for him though?
give it time. If he stays with us when we go down he'll do us a job as aidy has said the style of play will become more stylish as the team gels so next season its reasonable to expect we will be playing to his strengths.
He's just saying that Arsenal away is the only game so far that if you are a silver member you would have had difficulty getting tickets.
One would assume you can read? So surely it is quite clear what i said? With the exception of Arsenal away every other match both home and away this season have gone on sale to silver members, so any suggestion that the membership criteria has stopped anyone attending is tosh, comprehend?
So instead of placing a ??? on a question to me that states FACT perhaps you would be best served not talking out of your arse as you do above. The fact is every single game went on sale to Silver members with the exception of the trip to the Emirates.
