On VitalFootball apparently Aidy wants to sign Cureton as he failed to get Sharp or Eastwood. Also we have apparently made a bid of 75,000 plus add ons for Stuart Cumming of Montrose. http://www.watford.vitalfootball.co.uk/
I am scared. After suggesting Benitez on my "Copa America" thread know it sais we are going to bid for him on Vital Football
But we haven't missed out on Eastwood or Sharp yet...they haven't moved anywhere yet. As for the two players mentioned i don't feel we need another right back (even though we have lost J.C) especially another young-promosing one. We need a left sided defender to create competition with J.S. As for Cureton he did well last season, but i don't see he's better than what we have. Would rather see Hoskins, Robinson etc given a go. If by January it is clear they aren't up to the mark then sign someone like Cureton (if it isn't too late).
Sell Kabba for 250 grand (shouldn't of bought in first place) and get cureton in at 500 grand, at least we would then have a bit of a fox in the box type player with cureton, and a proven goal scorer in the team if king where to be injured with kabba gone, and touch wood, hope not, if king where injured, for pace you could always play bouazza up top with cureton or even Hoskins. Bouazza can't be any worse than Kabba, I think he would score a few too! This way we don't waste all our money on unproven talent and if we where to go straight back up then we get it in! Oh and get Claus Jensen get him in on a free while we are at it!
Someone has obviously done you good and proper. Quite funny if it turns out you're the unwitting source of all these crap rumours! :]]
It is very unlikely Sharpe is coming here, we apparently baulked at the asking price and interest we may of had quickly evaporated.
Looks like he's headed to Sheffield Utd. Typical Watford won't go the extra yard to get the player they want, and get beaten to a signature by a rival who will pay it. So he's overpriced, well so was Ashley Young so spend some of that money. I'm really pee'd off at this news.
Who says we actually wanted him? Not one media source has linked us with him at any stage so far this summer, yet they've been pretty correct on all the actual interested clubs.
Hopefully we didnt want him. Hes had 1 good season and everyones got a hard on for billy sharp. Hes still unproven and we have plenty of players like that with potential. Would be interested in anyone who is an obvious improvemnt such as earnshaw but unless we can get a player like that then i reckon we are better off as is.
agreed he isn't even proven at championship level yet, players we are signing now should be players that are certain to do a job in the championship and then might be able to make prem grade (e.g king) so then if (when) we go up we only have to add 5 or 6 players to it and have a squad that can compete in prem.
Good call Hatvix I'll give Aidy a call and tell him I just found a loose fiver in my jeans that are just about to go in the wash You think I would get him on that alone, or will I have to throw the jeans in as part of the bargain. I sure hope he's a better cleaner than he is a striker. I have to say though, I thought Kabba was good against portsmouth home He didn't score but assited twice and linked up well with bouazza! If he is still with us, it will be good to see how he does in the friendlys Sure have a lot of forwards fighting for that 1 position next to King!
Especially as someone like Kabba who could play on the wing is very unlikely to do so after the signing of MacAnuff. King is given. We have: Hendo Priskin Hoskins Kabba Moses Theo R. and even Bouazza if Aidy decides to play 'Nuff and Noddy on the flanks. All fighting for that second berth. A reason why I can't see us getting in anyone else (unless someone goes the other way). I expect players like Theo, Moses (when fit) and maybe even Hoskins and Priskin to go out on loan during this season. For the last two, I don't expect it to be season-long loans but 1-3 months at a time. Simply because 6-7 players are too many to fight for one place in the side. Ideally we'd have 3-4 players for that one place in the first 11. That would leave 1 one the bench and one or two out of the squad that weekend. We need to get rid of Kabba!!!!
Agreed. Even with Kabba gone, I'm not sure how economical it is to have 6 strikers, maybe 7 if we sign another one. Think we should get rid of at least 2, but given how young most of them are I would be very reluctant to. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Or in our case, a half time cup of hot brown.
The point is are we happy with the forwards we have got? im not i think we have enough forwards but dont rate all of them. i think kabba might not be so bad in the championship but have seen he is never a premiership player and should get rid of players like him or cant make it at the higher level. We should try and sign players who look like they good do a job in the premiership.
I feel we need two strikers. An expirienced one and a young one. With rumours that Hendo is leaving and Kabba looking a dead cert that he is leaving and Moses and Theo looking like there going on loan, we will only have three Strikers King,Hoskins,Priskin so IMO we should get someone like Kevin Lisbie and Christian Benitez. arty2:!! BRING ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!arty2:
We already have loads of young strikers: Priskin, Hoskins, Ashikodi and Robinson. I also don't think that Hendo will leave. We only need a striker we know will do the business, be they young or experienced.
It is only rumoured on dumbass rumour websites aka vitalfootball. Good plan: Don't listen to the web. It is evil.
Agree Hendo will be here next season. Experienced Championship player and is just the sort you need for the campaign - He is our no nonsense, don't take **** player and you need 1 of them!
You need 11 of them. None of our players from the last couple of seasons that have held down a first team spot (with the exception of Eagles & maybe Priskin, though he deserves more time) have been pansy arsed 'don't touch the hair' blokes (...Andy Kennedy...). You look at our team and just about all of the first team regulars are get-the-job-done players. Of which we should be thankful.
Please don't mention Andy Kennedy again! (unless it is to show pic of his ex misses!), that bloke just reminds me how bad the Colin Lee era was! A truely shocking player who just loved himself and gave nothing to the team.
