Glad England won so easily - was a bit worried when we "only scored" 305 but seems the bowlers were on good form and with 2 run outs also decent in the field. Who we want in the semis? Wonder if India and Australia will rest players for their final group games?
We’ve got to beat Oz & India. I don’t think the order matters as they are evenly balanced. After Sunday, India at Edgbaston would be fine. More important is winning the toss. I still think we are one dimensional & weak when our Plan A doesn’t apply. Bat, 350, bowl, win.
Oh dear, never mind. I think GD’s original post, to which mine was a reply, was intended in a somewhat different spirit from its apparent factual content, shall we say?
Crisis over, we're back to being amazing again, but for how long? New Zealand basically in the play-offs now, despite their campaign bearing a strong resemblance to our wonderful 07-08 season
Probably put the mockers on it! BBC have the Wimbledon final and Channel 4 the British GP so not sure who will show it ?
I'm puzzled when people argue that they are prohibited from watching test cricket because 'they don't have Sky'. Previously, I didn't 'have Sky' but then I phoned someone up, gave details & now I do have it.
Excellent that we’re meeting Australia in the semis. I realised this afternoon what a limited outfit they are. The openers & Starc, then all a bit ho hum. Carey the honourable exception. Outstanding mentality. After that, bits & pieces. Stoinis & Maxwell are sloggers who aren’t necessarily up for the fight. I just hope the last 3 games aren’t won on the toss. If they are to be, I just hope we win them.
We’ve got to give ourselves the maximum chance of dismissing their openers. They’re a smoke & mirrors/piss & wind outfit. Very modest by Australian standards.
Yes - not a great batting line after the first 2 although Carey seems dangerous . Heard the pitch might play spin which may mean playing Ali and Rashid ? No doubt rain at some point ..
It would be a great shame if any of the last three games of what has been a good World Cup are affected by Duckworth/Lewis shenanigans.
On the BBC site weather for Birmingham seems to suggest you might get aa start on Thursday but no chance of play on Friday! https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2655603 Let's hope our Men do much better than the ladies have in the Ashes... Sounds like Jimmy Anderson could be out of the first test...not ideal!
Is Smith bottling under the pressure? Might be temporary loss of form. Could be mental disintegration. Time will tell.
Bat first & win has been the strong pattern over the last 2 weeks. With only half the team firing, I suspect putting everything on Williamson/Taylor/Guptill & setting up scoreboard pressure was their best bet.
Yes - and rain has come now . India will be tested in the over cast conditions potentially but NZ have to get Rohit and Kohli out early .
Yorkshire's batting is always suspect. Managed to get a 92 run lead but not enough. 150 would have been interesting
