Very disappointed. With 25 mins to go I was feeling hopeful of a home win. We would have been fifth!

Cardiff next, who will arrive at Watford after phuqqing derby over 6-1.

Gutted, sounded like we deserved at least a draw, guess we should be proud our weak looking team competed for so long. Just hope it doesn't affect confidence

Quick review: bunch of kids played as such. Played really enthusiastically in the first half and that saw them through and more but their inexperience shone through like a goodun in the second half and they crumbled. Graham missed 2 golden chances which any striker at this level should expect to put away. Will write more tomorrow.

Would of won that comfortably with our full team out. Would of helped if Graham took the 3 chances he had which he should of scored. He played well apart from missing those sitters. :forehead::forehead:

Our back 4 lacked a leader big time. Countless times Bennett and Mariappa let the ball bounce / missed headers.

Harley was absolute ***** as a centre midfielder, strange choice and shows complete lack of options / lack of depth in our squad.

UEA and Olzy said it. Graham had an absolute mare in front of goal, in fact all the strikers did. Hoskins was going wide until it got a deflection and Henderson missed the world's biggest sitter right at the end (Nak will say he had a stormer, got into the right position etc I am sure!). If the strikers were on form today, we would have been at least 3 goals to the good at half time and I must say, the keeper for Coventry yet again proved his worth. The lad Kiran Westwood would be a top Premiership keeper if he was brought by a club in that league. Every time I see him play, he makes 3 or 4 top class saves.

To be honest, the very young defence was bullied around tonight by a couple of big strong strikers. Coventry played a direct game, using the width well (the on loan Chelsea left back especially went forward well) and payed for it. Bennet had a bit of a mare I thought and there seemed to be a lack of communication at the back. You get this with kids though, so I am not going to criticise them much because they would not have been in that position if the strikers had done their jobs.

A very subdued atmosphere by the way. Perhaps everyone had put too much effort in on Sat and did not really get behind the team much this eve.

Must add, we were not helped by the usual Harley give a foul away every 5 mins. When on the left wing, he does not put us in danget as much but we have seen the damage he does by his stupid fouls when playing left back. The bloke is a liability as it gave them the ball in dangerous positions time and time again. But hi-hum, the fans fans love him because he puts effort in like Paul Robinson did (and we all know how carp he was as well)

Just got back from the game. Its disapointing that we seem to let in goals early. We got going after the game and we should of won the game in the first half, but missed too many good chances. We lost because we have a small squad not because they were better then use. Cowie looked like he went off injured and hodson did aswell. Hoskins went off due to lack of fitness, and those who came on added nothing to the team. With Cathcart or Demerit at the back we never would let in 3 goals, and with Helguson upfront we would of scored more then 2. Are small team will cost us at times this season.

Indeed, that is why not going to criticise the team much. If we were going for a realistic promotion charge, I would have been ffff-ing and jeffff-ing but we are about survivial and with a small squad like this, days like this will happen

Where was Cathcart tonight? I didnt hear anything before the game about him having a knock or anything :\

Really if we would have scored atleast one of the many chances we had at 2-1 then we would have been cruising, but we've been left rueing missed opportunities.

Good point about us being a small team it will cost us for sure. Even more silly putting Harley in centre mid IMO and he doesnt even have the legs.

and how bad is Doyley getting aswell a flipping beyond a joke.

O yeh Henderson miss was embarrasing but I didnt really expect him to do anything tbh.

Disappointing defeat, however with kids throughout the team we were going to find it difficult against quite a reasonable coventry side.

It sounds like we created enough chances to win the game but didn't take them. The fact that we are creating chances is promising, as when our squad starts to recover from the injuries we will have some momentum.

Agree with everyone else, Graham was nothing like he has been but im not going to jump on his back as he's worked his arse off for us every match. Defence was poor. Thats pretty much it from me.

Watford 1-4 Cardiff is my prediction for Saturday.

You lucky, lucky people who didn't go tonight.

... and yes that henderson miss was terrible.

EDIT: Just read Matimbers post and I totally agree with everything he has said.

Matches like this are why football grabs you, teases you and gets inside your soul. It swung this way and that and had so many talking points and incidents that could keep pundits going for ages.

Coventry are no mug team, a team of tall, very physical athletes which makes defeat no disgrace.

Yes, we should have been out of sight by half time, we swept the ball about with such brio.

The ref, Andre Marriner, had a bit of a mare - the first Coventry goal was hand ball by Jack Cork in the build up, then Jon Harley was taken out late which was also missed by the ref, who amazingly (or not) allowed the play to go on allowing an unchallenged Clingan to drill it home from way out.

I disagree about Harley - he mixed it in the centre of midfield with Eustace (who deserved to score yet again) winning first and second ball time after time. This allowed us to get on top, first half.

Second half, when Harley was moved wide left to accomodate Lansbury in the middle we surrendered the middle and allowed them to dominate as Henri isn't as effective at ball winning, heading or tackling. And Cov are physical.

Why Loach headed a ball out of play instead of collecting it at the edge of the box, I dunno - it lead to a period of pressure they scored from, as Gunnarsson's Delap-like throws are like corners.

We allowed a taller team back in by giving 'em corner after corner.

That said, our kids -Hodson, Oshodi, Bennett - looked good.

Not their fault for Liam Henderson's miss or those by Cowie, Graham and Hoskins which would have made it game over.

At least this lot are trying and fighting for each other and created all those goal opportunities in the first place.

Shoot happens and we'll play worse and still win.

    Chins up peeps.:]]

Very disappointing not to win, especially after having so many chances. Fair play we worked very hard and really gave our all but just lacked a little in each areas of the pitch. Our main problem came from not being able to win headers, Leon Best up front for them won everything and we just couldn't cope with him. 2 of their goals came from corners as well which is very annoying, once again a lack of height showed. We had a lot of injuries/suspensions so things should improve once they come back into the side. As for our performance, we passed it quite well but in defence we lacked that height, we lacked abit of stability in midfield and up front we lacked that finishing touch.

Loach- 7.5 Made some good saves and looks to be more dominating now as he tries to win the ball from further out in his box. Made some great catches and also distributed the ball quite well.

Hodson- 8 Defensively he was superb, made some real top challenges, won headers, passed well, attacked well, and it's just such a shame he got injured because we could have used him for that last period of pressure.

Mariappa- 7 Struggled a little but in the air from long balls but still put in a good performance. His passing was good, he was calm, composed, put in some good tackles and covered other mistakes well.

Bennett- 6.5 Struggled a lot with Best but fair play to him he really showed a great deal of determination, work rate and seems to be a player that will stretch that extra inch to get the ball.

Doyley- 7 Had a solid game. Got forward well and defended well. His throw-ins were good as well.

Cowie- 6.5 Worked hard, chased down well, crossing was good and his passing was nice and simple. A reasonably solid game but didn't really get involved a great deal, shame he got injured.

Eustace- 7 Won a lot of headers, played some nice passes, and won the ball quite well. Had a good game although had to make up for Harley quite abit.

Harley-5.5 Not great, especially in central midfield. His positioning was completely erratic, he conceded a lot of fouls, and his crossing was very poor. Didn't really do a great deal when on the left but did get skinned when defending at one late on which could have been very bad as he almost conceded a pen.

Cleverley- 6.5 Some good moments, mainly in the first half. He went on some good runs, played a few nice passes but struggled to get involved second half. He did win quite a few headers but defensively he looked a little weak and the full back, depending on which side he was playing, was left quite exposed. Decent goal though.

Hoskins- 7 Surprised me abit, did quite well from flick ons, showed a few moments of skill, and he did work hard chasing down and actually going in for a few tackles. Scored a goal as well.

Graham- 6.5 Mixed game. His overall play was very good, his work rate, movement, first touch, heading, passing were all good but just couldn't seem to finish today, he had so many chances to score but didn't take them.

    Subs:

Lansbury- 7 Shored up the midfield, won some tackles, and played a couple of decent tackles.

Henderson- 6.75 Showed some good moments, played one great cross, went on a couple of decent runs and also held up the ball quite well on a couple of occasions. I didn't see the chance that is mentioned above, there were so many bodies around that at that point near the end I couldn't see who was doing what apart from that a throw or cross was going into the box and that Westwood made some good saves. Back on track about Henderson though, he struggled a little bit in winning headers from long balls.

Oshodi- Wasn't on long so would be harsh to give any rating.

    Same.

We threw away 3 very important points. First half we were at them and agressive. After the break, until it went 3-2 we were asleep. Defending for the 2nd goal was terrible.

Malky get them on the training ground and teach defending set pieces. We can't afford to take 5 attempts to get the ball clear.

It wasn't a completely hopeless performance. We created soooo many chances, but we seem to only need to give opponents a sniff, and they score. If you score 2 goals at home, you should be winning games.

Graham should have scored a hat-trick.

Hoskins took his goal well, but did sod all else the whole time he was on.
