I'm thinking about buying one of the next gen consoles as (for a change) the tax man sent me a windfall this morning! I've a feeling it'll either be a 360 or a Wii. Can I have advice from everbody on these consoles please? I've played the Wii once and it was quite good fun, but is it a gimmick and are the graphics as good as a 360? Is it worth holding out for a PS3?
I've got both the Wii and the 360 and they are both amazing. It really depends on what your after. If your looking for graphics, definatly go for the 360 but if you want gameplay then the Wii is better.
Having seen all 3. The wii is great fun, a superb family entertainment toy but is not for the Hardcore gamer. The 360 goes up a level and the graphics are superb, definetly a very good machine. The live function is very good. I have seen an imported PS3 at Xmas, it looks the dogs and if it was me the one I would go for. But the 60gb will be €599 with the 20gb at €499 so either option is an expensive one compared to the others.
I have an Xbox 360 and won't be buying a PS3. The difference is negligible and anyway, the old Sony advantage of certain games only being on their console is over. For example GTA will be out on the 360 at the same time as the PS3. Plus the PS3 will take a while to establish itself in my opinion, whereas the 360 has already got through it's launch stage and is pretty stable. I used to be a Playstation fan but not anymore. As for the Wii - it's not in the next gen league really. It's an offshoot and as someone above said it's all about the fun aspect rather than serious gaming.

Having played the Xbox 360 often i would say go for that... the games available are incredible, graphics and playability and with the premium pack you get a years free exbox live with it... someof the games on xbox live are superb, ie call of duty 3 and rainbow 6 vegas and there are also some fantastic driving games out for it. The football manager sims are great too and you can set up teams and go up against people worldwide.. more like the real thing than ever. The fact it is also made by Microsoft speaks volumes and there are regular updates for it improving it all the time... you can also link your PC to it now so you can watch movies or listen to music that you have on your PC whilst playing games. The Wii is a good machine and i think will be the only real challenger for the 360 but IMO i think that the PS3 will fall a little short.
