no I didn't and if you think that lot's funny, read on for the next "vital" installment! Charlton Athletic striker Marcus Bent has set his heart on a move to Watford. Bent, who is way down the pecking order at The Valley is reported to want out as he has become increasingly disillusioned with the management style of Alan Pardew. With Boothroyd on the lookout for more firepower up front, a move to Watford looks a distinct possibility. Boothroyd is set for a busy week in the transfer market. Sunderland are unrelenting in their pursuit of Waford favourite Marlon King, whilst Vital Watford have it on excellent authority that a bid for wantaway Cardiff striker Michael Chopra is in the offing. Chopra is believed to have had enough of life down at Ninian Park and pines for the days of playing for a leading club. The Chopra situation is complicated by the fact Cardiff would like to take Steve Kabba as part of the deal yet the clubs are not in agreement as to how much Kabba would be valued at. Watford are of the opinion that Kabba is worth around £1.21m whilst Cardiff believe the player is not worth any more than £633k. (LOL they mean £6.33 don't they?) There is bargaining to be done, but Chopra is Watford bound whatever happens with Steve Kabba. A Vicarage Road insider had this to say 'There is bargaining to be done, but Chopra is on his way whatever happens with Steve Kabba'. With Marcus Bent, Michael Chopra, Rowan Vine and Christian Benitez all set to arrive at The Vic in the coming days and weeks, it now looks certain that Marlon King and Hungarian attacker Tamas Priskin are headed for the door marked 'EXIT'.
Proves what furtive imaginations Vital journalists have as on the Cardiff sithe they totally disagree: c/p Reports in London are suggesting that Michael Chopra could soon be on his way to recently relegated Watford with journeyman striker Steve Kabba coming the other way as part of the deal. There was no registered interest in Chopra just days ago as confirmed by Peter Ridsdale but it seems Watford may be attempting to lure Chopra to Vicarage Road. It seems strange that Chopra would jump at the move with The Hornets being an average Championship side. They are expected to push for promotion but would almost certainly be favourites for relegation again while Chopra could do better by having another good season for Cardiff and attracting a better Premiership side to bid. At the moment, Chopra is training and staying put. We are under no pressure to sell but would be guaranteed at least £3.5m under the terms of Chopra's contract.
Wow! Busy times ahead. Who came up with the Kabba valuations? They are fairly arbitrary, yet specific figures no?
:]]We may jest, but Nak108 predicted some of this signing a while agao, especially Christian Benitez! Allong with 11 million for Marlon the weird valuation of Kabba made me laugh the most. I am so looking forward to the transfer window shutting already.
I really wish vital would just **** off. They link us with every striker out there in the hope that one of them will be right simply by the law of averages. Its all crap.
It is'nt just playing it to Priskin on the floor, Its more actually playing him in a few games not just playing him, him scoring then putting him on the bench again, Their is no way King will leave and definetly not for 3 million. Their should be no talk of us signing a striker unless it was Rob Earnshaw who has now gone or Collins John, If not just stick with what we've got, Its good enough to easilly get us in the play offs if some of them aka Marlon, Hendo and even Kabba show us what they have done in this league before.
dont think we could find an equal replacement who would actually want to come to us, wouldnt matter how much money we had
I disagree, theres a number of good strikers knocking about. If we got a ridiculous amount like that we also quite easily afford a bit extra in terms of wages etc.
Who have we signed, nobody, who wants to come to Watford, why sell King for 11 million, when if he gets his scoring boots he could earn us at least 30 million next season.
Agreed. We would be going down the Leeds road of completely destroying the wage structure and getting bogged down in costs. Everyone has a price, but whether we could sustain a 30k a week+ wage for a player is questionable.
I told you weeks ago it was a done deal, ok Afanof I got the colour of the away strip wrong, HH is coming back with the # 10 on his shirt.
Regarding King leaving you lot have to remember 1 thing. King is one of the key things that make us candidates for promotion. If we let him go not only would we miss that key thing, but it would also make us a whole lot less attractive to other players. I'm close to saying no amount of money would be enough at this point in time. Aidy and Simpson know that King can help attract other players and they know that no one as good would even consider coming to us. King stays - I sure.
