Was it a good game, why did the keeper get sent off, was there a missed penalty?

Lmackered and hungry - the late night kebab is doing its tricks - smells like a greasy sppon cafe in my office - ooops there goes another one.

The birds are singing here in Camden. Dawn is breaking and how peaceful it all is.

Have a good Friday Birdy and all folks of a hornet nature and indeed all bears roaming the mountains and wilderness of this fine planet of ours.

I watched about 20 miserable minutes.
All the guys on the bench for the prior two Copa America matches got some time it seemed.

The keeper got tossed for time wasting. It was one of those kinds of matches.

US striker Eddie Johnson is dead to me. What a waste of oxygen every breath he takes.

Still I'm glad this team took a good old fashioned ass whipping in this tournament...it should firm them up a bit for the WC Qualifiers, set expectations that you have to play well to beat good teams.

    Silver linings...

when the yanks are at full strength and decide to play attacking football, they are a useful outfit. All too often they temd to pish around with the ball, lose it and get their just deserves - a loss. I wish they would be more expressive in their play as they aren't actually that bad a side when at full strength.

This team was terrible. It was like chopping off the arms & legs of the real team and sending them out against Argentina...insert Monty Python image here...

An interesting club v country controversy developed in the leadup to this tournament, a prestigious yet inconsequential tournement for the North American invitees, USA & Mexico.

Landon Donovan had been away for a long time with the USA leaving the LA Galaxy to writhe in impotent agony whilst enduring loss after loss slipping to bottom of league at last.

He told everyone he'd go to the Copa America despite it being essentially a high quality friendly series, but indicated he'd prefer to go back to the Galaxy.

Bradley did not select him, and so he didn't play for the US Nats for the first time in years.

As a Galaxy fan and a US fan, all I can say is THANK GOD he came home because he scored on two PK's last night to lead the Galaxy to a win.

The OTHER club v country controversy will be about Sir Beckham, but you knew about that already.

club and country has been an issue in europe for many a year. Personally I beleive Country comes first and is the ultimate silver lining on a players career to play for his country. We postpone our league programme for a week or so when Internationals are being played and the teams are affected by losing their players.

IMO winning the world cup is the highlight of a footbal fans life span - many many English will probably never see it, the older ones will have or at least remember winning it. I was six when England won the World Cup and remember very little of it.

That's one of the STUPIDEST things about the US domestic league, the MLS...NO INTERNATIONAL BREAK.

Last year during the World Cup, we lost two or three players, notably Donovan...since there is no break, we plummeted to the bottom of the table in his absence. When he came back, he played better than any other player in the league, and the team had more wins than any other...but it was too late by then, the Galaxy had missed playoffs, which is comparable to being relegated (sort of). It would have been worthwhile if we anything more to show for it than a draw with the WC Campeonis Italia, but alas...

We are REALLY hoping Goldenballs' presence will put pressure on the league to schedule games NEXT season in such a way as to avoid International dates.

Probably because footie isn't a priority in the uSA. Over the years and when you win a tournament and the country feels proud that they have a competing footie team, these things wil be ironed out.

Did anyone ever see 'Boston Goals' on Soccer AM? PFCFitz,YellowArmy reminds me of the commentators on that when I read what he's saying. :]]

We just have too damn many sports operations here. NBA, College Basketball, NFL, College Football, and MLB are all bigger draws at present. NHL may be neck and neck with MLS right now, but might not.

Football (Soccer at any rate) will always be a second tier sport here, sadly. Looking on the bright side, the amount of interest in the game has never been higher, and it hasn't been fueld by big name players and big money and lines of cocaine in backrooms of discos like it was in the Chinaglia-Best-Cruyff-Pele years of the NASL in the 70's. Up to Beck's arrival, it's all been grassroots support.

Even if we won the World Cup 2010, American Football, Basketball and Baseball would all be bigger still.

Still though, if the MLS operators figure out their investment suffers when the best players are gone, they will insist on the international play date breaks...and that day is coming soon. It used to be the US team played collegiate (amateur) soccer, so it didn't matter. THen the best players had been playing only in Europe, so they got the dates off, but now many many US team members player domestically so the pressure is building for those dates to be held.

So, what is a 'Boston Goal'?
