Best player at our club and because I like Leicester so much I'd be happy if we took a cut price of £30 mill.
Gutted if he went. Top class player, leader and lynchpin of our defence. Hopefully no Leicester bosses are reading this and it makes them want him even more. We shouldn't accept anything less than £45m.
On his day hes our best centre back and if he can find a bit more consistency he'd probably be a guaranteed starter. That being said hes not exactly a spring chicken and it's a big if for him to find consistency
If he hasn’t found consistency at his age, he’s very unlikely ever to do so. I agree he’s probably the most gifted CB we have, but he doesn’t have the brain to go with it and that won’t develop at this point in his career. The fact that Mariappa is preferred over him is telling.
Probably the most terrifying post I've ever read on this forum. Our best defender is utter dog droppings. Let's all reflect on that for a minute.
I agree, although Holebas has shown that there always seems to be a chance that a player can do a late 360
I think everyone holding out hope for players using Holebas as a miraculous late conversion metric should remember that he didn't even start playing professional football until he was 21, and that was in the sixth division of German football. He's basically a prolonged redshirt, and that has to go a long way to explaining why his conditioning and appetite are still so strong at his current age. Not to mention the fact that we bought him from Roma, who themselves bought him from Olympiacos. Not like he was ever really a scrub, just someone who took the long way round before managing a pretty linear progression of improvement.
Cathcart is your consistent 7 out of 10 Mariappa 6 out of 10 Kabasele is either an 8 or a 2. First 6 games last season made people take notice of him, he was highly rated outside of Watford. And then his brain took a holiday for the rest of the season.
Every footballer has at least one of those moments over a season - certainly over a few seasons. You get my point either way.
I think Kabasele's agent has written on the WO website . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...kebakio-completes-move-watford-hertha-berlin/ "Belgium's replacement for Kompany"! At 28 probably a bit late for that . Certainly has the pace and height to be our best defender but also has the concentration of a junior which is why Gracia doesn't play him .
If sold Kabaselle - Surely Arsenal would want him as they are in a desperate need of quality CB. If i were Leicester i would be putting in a £30 million bid now to prevent getting into a bidding war. Getting nearly £100 m for Maguire, makes you realise they are a good judge of defenders.
Football is now a billionaire's play thing. The cost means nothing. £100m, £150m, £250m if that's what it costs to get an average CH and beat one of their billionaire peers to a signing, then that's what they'll pay. One of the reasons I care less and less for it.
He was certainly their starting left-back for pretty much the entire season, keeping a promising English youngster by the name of Ashley Cole squarely out of the team.
Well I guess everyone has a different grading system. For me he’s not a starter, but when he plays he does ‘ok’. Parts of his game are good but found out too many times. It was more about being comparative with the other 2. A weaker player than Cathcart but more consistent than Kabasele
Some of that might be for turning up all season and staying fit .. Unlike others ! He seemed to be the only defender not to be injured last season.
