I'd prefer we had competition for JS rather than cover. He seemed to thrive from the competition that Powell gave.
I can understand why Aidy brought him in but he's had all season to eye up another LB so there shouldnt be any excuses when we sign one!
Ooops... I was a little slow off the mark with this one as someone has already posted in the rumours bit. However, this is neither a transfer or rumour so should remain here! :]]
Not surprised but hopefully he had a positive effect off the pitch e.g. helping Parkes and J/S to develop.
I disagree, we need to sign a new and well established left back. Parkes isn't ready yet, although I do believe he will be pushing for a starting place within the next few years.
Unless JS is to be replaced as left back - which I doubt as Aidy plays him in more games than most when fit - then I think young Parkes should be allowed to step in on the odd occassion for a suspension or a short term injury. If however he proves to inexperienced to cope then bung Jay in at left back (for those games when JS is out). A very very good left back is very hard to find so don't your breath in us signing anyone better than JS. 9 ha ha - everyone is better than JS i hear the jokers say) The most important issue is to sign a keeper so we have two players fighting for the one spot. All other positions are adequatelly covered except the winger position as jobby has previously noted. Will we keep Macca?
Sorry but never thought Powell cut it. Yes a good bloke but too slow and too old. Parkes will be fighting for first team football before the end of next season but we do need to sign a replacement for Powell.
I think we should keep macca as we need someone to be bouazza back up on the left wing and i doubt a new signing would be happy to be back up. Plus macca can play well in the championship.
Did anyone see this on the BBC website? Following up from tracking rare walrusses and icebergs as they make their slow progress across the North Atlantic the BBC have decided to track the lesser spoted Chris Powell as it's released into the wild. As you can see from the Red Cross he started out shaking hands with Aidy at reception at around lunchtime and by nearly 2pm he's already made it 200m up Occupation Road! A record speed by his own high standards this season...
A consumate professional: "It was a good year for me and a learning curve for everyone at the club. I would like to thank the supporters, the players and the staff for making me feel so welcome, it was a privilege to wear the yellow shirt," said Powell. "I have to move on, but I'll be looking on with great interest at Watford's results and I hope to see everyone real soon." It was a privilege to have you playing for us.
