I'm sure due to my highly successful post on boycotting football everyone knows my stance on money vs football. I saw this post to agreivate me further on the BBC site

"Good to see the English teams filling up the next round "

English teams? What? Tell me the percentage of English players that make up these teams? Is this due to the cheaper option of the foreign player rather than jonny England? Do English clubs have too much money to spend on talented foreign players? Are these continental players affecting the English national team? should we expect a triumpent England team when there aren't actually that many players playing at the top top level? Is there too much money in the English game?

    Have a go.

Well, they're English teams by virtue of being based in this fine country. I'm sure that's all that statement is implying.

As for the rest of what you said...Percentage of English players in the teams is probably about 15-20% I'd guess. And yes it is due to the cheaper cost of players abroad. Regardless of your financial status you're always looking to save money and the simple fact is David Nugent cost £6m and Roque Santa Cruz cost £3m. Who would you rather have up front? Maybe if English teams stopped over-pricing their players the development of English players would not be so stunted. And no, I don't think there's too much money in the English game. I do think there's too much money in football in general however...
