I must say I was a bit worried when he came on as to how this might affect midfield. Slotted right in. Comfortable with the ball. Guided it into the right areas and popped up to receive the ball when required. Showed his experience. Does look a bit off the pace but that is understandable given he has not played competitive football for a while. Very pleased but he will have tougher baptisms than that given Forest have a poor midfield but you can only play what you are up against. Valuable asset to have given the current situation with Cleverley.
Yeah, looked very assured, took the sting out of Forest, albeit even in their 10 minute spell on top, they still didn't create any clear cut opportunities. Good news is that Chalobah is back now, hopefully Gosling too, so we've got a few options in midfield again
I was expecting a bit of a destroyer without much technical ability, but his touch and passing was pretty much flawless.
Did not do a lot and looked a little bit unsure of what his role was, but what he did do was fine. As others have said he hasn't played for a while so is probably bound to be a little off the pace, but looks like he might be OK and will do the job he was signed for which is to be a reasonable backup player for our MF.
Tbf with everyone being shunted around all game, he can be forgiven for not being totally sure of his role!
Was a bit worried after reading all the negative opinions during the week, didn't set the world alight but did okay. Better player than Garner anyway
Did exactly what was asked of him. Nice touch and smart layoffs. Kept the play moving and was offering himself for the pass.
Destined to put in a string of highly effective cameo performances until Xisco is forced to start him against Swansea and he misses a complete sitter as we slump into the play offs.
Someone pointed out the other day that although some on here remember Sanchez from his PL days and were not impressed with him, that he is now playing in The Championship and might well be more than good enough at this level. I have to say that judging from his showing today that that person may just have a point as he looked quite comfortable and assured when he was on the ball, therefore he could be a decent squad addition. Having said that I wonder if he will have the legs to play a whole match, but I think he could be useful from the bench.
Tbf, we've got plenty of players this season who looked like absolute journeymen in the Premier League! Hoping he's more Kiko Femenia than Andre Gray!
I see his transfer thread has been locked to save any further embarrassment to the usual suspects. The BWO certainly look out for each other don’t they? Looked good today.
Fair play, he looks a shrewd little signing. Doesn't have the look of a nervous player just coming back from a bad injury. Looks perfectly suited to coming off the bench for the last 20 and helping to close games out
Won back the ball well a few times today, gave the ball away for the move that ended up in their goal, but that was in the final third so I wouldn't blame him as such. A perfectly fine see-the-game-out kind of sub
He is nothing special, but he is proving a cool calm customer and has done OK when brought on for his late cameos IMO.
Excellent by all accounts today. That second half performance probably makes him worth the contract we gave him. The transfer thread for him makes funny reading after today!
He was first class but I was slightly alarmed when Olise skipped past him in one of his little bursts. Excellent performance and settled us down for that second half.
Last night was actually the first game I'd seen him play for us - thought he was excellent. Hopefully turning out to be yet another player I was wrong about (with Sierralta).
Did better in the anchor role than Hughes last night, which really surprised me. Hughes has struggled with being man marked, Sanchez seemed to find all the space in the world, and was happy to drop deep and split the centre backs to add additional passing angles. If Hughes could add that to his game he'd be all the better for it.
He's not the first person Olise has skipped past this season, and he won't be the last! If it's the same incident I'm thinking of, it was a clever trick by Sanchez to haul him down after the fact, the ref didn't pick up on it
Looked the part I must admit. Last night showed he's played at a higher level. Sold a dummy which was class to put us on the front foot.
Has done a good job for us, better than I expected, but I doubt he will be retained for the PL unless we can't bring in anyone better.
Sounds like he's left, sent a tweet that suggests his time with us is over. Thought he was going to be a disaster, turned out ok and helped get us over the line but was never going to be an option for the Premier League. Good lad.
Agreed. He was solid and didn't stand out like a sore thumb when playing. Certainly played his part in helping us finish 2nd. Good luck to him.
Yup. Worked well for both parties. Can’t be many better gigs at 35 than coming into a cosmopolitan squad like ours having been unattached, PL facilities, no likelihood of playing much, pick up a load of win bonuses and probably a healthy promotion bonus too and get to take part in all the celebrations. He was worth every penny for the calmness he brought to the second half v Reading.
