First season played well no goals
Second season apparently didn't play so well 7 goals (I think)
There is a player in there but he has to turn up every match
If not it's right he is told or sold!

Can't find Troy thread but Currant Bun is saying Silva has fallen out with Deeney as well .

Good to see the player power issue that has been a problem being addressed

    We had Capoue
    Etienne Capoue
    He just didn't understand
    Silva's the main man
    Capoue has been canned
    We had Etienne Capoue.

  4. changing managers every year can't help, I imagine players end up thinking they can ignore them and do what they like as the manager will be gone in the summer

The two newspaper stories today involve our two leading scorers of last season!

In a squad that already looks rather short of goals on paper..hmmm

  6. BigRossLittleRoss

Agree, that's definitely the reason behind it .

I think in the promotion season the players just thought we are good enough to win this without a manager so let's just go and play our own game .

And I think that Joka realised this and didn't tinker too much as the team knew themselves quite well by then.

This mindset of being beyond criticism could explain why Capoue has 6 good games a season and fades in and out of every other game without being dropped. If Silva has questioned his commitment or work ethic then that's completely fair. We now have 6 good CM's competing for 3 spots so having a player go missing is no longer acceptable. (Providing we sell Watson/Behrami)

Competition is healthy, providing we have players who are capable of pushing themselves to become better rather than throwing a strop. It could be the making of Capoue or the end depending on how he reacts. If he uses the competition to make himself play consistently for 30 games rather than 6 we could have a class act on our hands, if he sulks and acts like a baby nobody will have any sympathy for him what so ever and he'll be ostracised.

Gonna take this story with a pinch of salt for the minute and assume the Daily Mail are doing a Daily Mail. Bust ups happen at work/in football and people get over them, so this could easily be a case of blowing things out of proportion. I could get over losing Capoue, but we would need a solid replacement. In all honesty I think he's hit his peak in terms of transfer value so now could be a good time to sell if a decent offer comes in anyway.

The Mail Capoue story seems like it's got a bit behind it as it's a bit specific to be completely made up.

The Sun Deeney story is based only on Silva's press conference and they've left out all of his positive comments about Deeney to make something out of nothing I think.

I cant see Capoue getting in the starting team at the moment so wouldn't be too upset to see us cash in. I would like to see him knuckle down and fight for a spot, but if he wants to sulk then we are better off getting rid anyway.

As for the Deeney article, it seems to be made out of nothing:

“I don’t have a reason to change but I haven’t spoken to my players about my decision and always with me the players are first to know.

“In this moment I don’t have a reason to change our captain but if I will change, Troy and the others will know first.”

Seems like a perfectly reasonable thing for Silva to say in a press conference. The article is nothing more than taking snippets from the press conference to speculate that they may fall out.

Reading the Suns article it is as always a real non story. It's just filler. Marco says he has no reason to change the captain and the sun report that as a snub to Troy because he hasn't said the words "yes Troy is my captain". Schoolboy reporting.

I hate this "player power" that has come into the modern game.

In my day the head coach/manager had the first and last word on everything. Can you imagine GOD putting up with that sh1t.

Glad Silva is trying to bring back some discipline and cohesion to the team.

Reminds me of Slav booting out Keith Andrews and saying he didn't want people not committed and causing trouble.

Can only be a good thing if true. Player power needs stamping out.

No but he does run around like a headless chicken, hence covering so much ground and having nothing to show for it! Idiot running.

  17. Don't have to imagine it.

He gave Mo Johnstone a shed load of leeway before deciding enough was enough. There was also the Leverstock Green incident which could have seen tbe back of two or three of our better players (a chap allegedly nearly lost his life but for Kevin Richardson's quick thinking).

Yep. He was God. But he was a compassionate God who knew which side his bread was buttered. He also knew it was just possible that, occasionally, an olive brach was more effective than swollowing up the ground you stood on, to keep it biblical.

When capoue and behrami first played together they looked great, worked hard, pressed as a duo, capoue then had that bit extra quality about him.

I'm not sure I'd say he's lazy, but what I do notice is when we need someone to grab the game by the scruff of the neck he goes missing. Take dacoure for instance, he's always wanting the ball, no matter the opposition or scoreline. Yet capoue has games where it's like he's only going to do something when the game comes to him. I wonder if he actually doubts his ability, if it's a tough game he doesn't want the ball.

I'd guess (although it is only a gut feeling) that the club leaked it to out his actions and put him in his place.

Who else would know that the club heirarchy were secretly impressed with Silva and fully support him?

Reading the subtext, it sounds awfully like an ultimatum to me.

  22. BigRossLittleRoss

    BigRossLittleRoss First Team

    Was thinking same .

It could be an ultimatum to pull into line or also setting up a situation that will allow them to sell 2 of their senior players without antagonising the fans/media as much otherwise .

Read the sub-subtext. It was in the daily mail. So likely never happened. Surprised they didn't go with the headline of 'Two foreign migrants arguing bring shame upon leafy, quiet London Colney.'

I don't. But the lack of pictures, verifiable quotes and given its in a paper which is reknowned for making up stories, I'm more than dubious and think it's best to sit on the side of caution when believing these things.

The bust up would have taken place in the changing room, unless someone periscoped or instagrammed it, there won't be. However, reporters have sources.

My feeling is it did happen as there was an incident at Spurs where Adebayor had a bust up with Martin Jol and Capoue and Kaboul sided with Adebayor...he's got form.
