Blizzard, Powell, Jarrett are gone as is Joel Grant who was never going to make it despite those on here that foolishly thought he'd be good. McCoy and Beasant have failed to earn new deals and have thus been released.
I never saw anything in Joel Grant to suggest he'd make it. The rest I'd taken as given anyway. Maybe Macca has survived to fight another day? One last chance for the most inconsistent performer we have?
Good. These players were all expected to leave, really. Now it's just a matter of what will happen to Osborne and Chambers who are both out of contract as well, and whether or not Malky stays as playing-coach or just coach. Macca stays because he has one year left in his contract. We're also a bit short on wingers.
Malky says he still feels he can contribute so I can see him moving onto a similar contract to Alec in recent years: registered and given a number but unlikely to play barring emergency. I still think if a bid comes in for Macca it'll be bye bye. Wasn't expecting him to be released really.
agree - last time i spoke t malky he was determined to continue playing so the role of player coach would suit. macca - maybe he will surprise us and do a hammeur and become good?
Theres no questioning Maccas got talent, but he's never been able to translate that consistently No surprise at all that Jarretts gone. Should never have joined.. BIG MISTAKE! Just to recap, on gaining promotion to the Premier League we sign a guy RELEASED by Brighton. Doesnt make good reading does it?
and to think i have always been slated on this board and the old board for saying Dom Blizzard is like Bamby and looked poor in The Championship. watford_away= football genius.
Good luck to them all but they as others have said are all players not good enough for a top championship side. Blizzard and Jarret are probably league 2 or league 1 players. I wouldn't have minded Powell staying on as I do not think we have sufficient cover at left back (Parkes is a very, very promising player but is too right footed to be a top flight or champ left back at the moment)and I thought he might have been able to offer something as a coach to the club. I know he still lives just outside Croydon so wouldn't suprise me to see him back at Palace next season.
I wish all the players luck for their future carears. I was a little surprised at Blizzard going as Aidy was such a big fan of his when we was in the CCC last and when he played we didn't lose. Would liked Powel to stay as back up but maybe his wages didn't warrent being in the CCC
I THINK MACCA MIGHT STILL GO? I THINK HE HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED BECAUSE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A FEE FOR HIM? I THINK CHAMBERS WILL BE OFFERED A NEW CONTRACT, NOT SURE WHAT THE THINKING IS ON OSBORNE THOUGH? DID I READ SOMETHING ABOUT HIM BEING GIVEN A SHORT EXTENSION ON HIS CONTRACT TO SEE IF HE CAN MAKE THE GRADE, AS HE HAS BEEN INJURED?
Agree, anyone know how he did for Crewe? Maybe they will make a bid, though i doubt we'd accept less than £100k cos Macca has proved he can do a job in the Champ (even if it is only as a squad player)
Crap apparently. They were excited when he went there but glad to see the back of him by all accounts. At least the fans were. The usual story - does some nice stuff but where's the end product?
Thought so, i know a Crewe fan and he was over the moon when he found out Macca had signed...then i heard nothing and taking that as a bad sign didn't want to ask!! Also Jarrett didn't seem to do much for the Dons, because he didn't play in the play-offs (unless he was injured like Herd is for Shrews). I do like Macca but agree he isn't consistent enough and though for a few mins each game he will be fantastic that isn't enough and his time must be up soon...
Macca is too lightweight. nice tricks but little end product. can't see him 'doing a hameur' and i can't see anyone paying that much for him.
He'll be fine as a backup to Bouazza and Cavalli for a season in the CCC. After that it'll be bye-bye. A shame his potential never materialised.
