Adrian Boothroyd has insisted that Ashley Young will not be leaving Watford this month. The England Under-21 international has caught the eye of several of the Premiership's top sides with a string of impressive performances this season, but Boothroyd maintains that he will not be tempted to cash in. Boothroyd has turned down three offers for Young and is ready to reject any more approaches, as he looks to strengthen his squad for Watford's battle against relegation "We've had bids for Ashley," he told Sky Sports News. "Three from Premiership clubs and they've all been turned down, and we will continue to do that. "We're building for the future here and you don't build by selling your best assets. "The team needs to be strengthened for sure and we need to add to it not take away from it." Boothroyd also explained that he had an honest relationship with his striker and warned that any clubs playing against the rules in their pursuit of Young would be found out. "I'm as confident as you can ever be. I have a very good relationship with Ashley Young," he said. "We have a relationship where I will tell him the clubs that have been in and he will tell me that he's been tapped up, because that goes on allegedly. "I'm lucky enough that I've got relationships with my players that will tell me that, and I will tell them straight. "And our have to be like that. I think that's the best way to be."
i hope he stays he did say a couple of weeks ago in a newspaper that he will stay even if watford go down
Ash is not irreplaceable. Anything over £4m I would snap they're hands off. Interesting fact- I trimmed his parents bush once in stevenage!
have seen it before, i know. but ashley obviously doenst mind staying at least until the end of this season. boothroyd wouldn't sell unless ashley is demanding to leave.
very true jobr most players will go if the money better but if he does go then we need someone as good as him to come in
just heard aidy on 5 live saying all this, the piece was headlined 'watford boss aidy boothroyd slams clubs tapping up ashley young' which he didn't really. only said that ash tells him if he gets tapped up. As if. general thrust was either: a) Ash loves it at watford and won't be leaving or b) If you want him you'll have to stump up more than you're offering time will tell
£5 million bid apparently. http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...soccer/07/01/03/SOCCER_Watford_Nightlead.html
lets take it watford will take the money we lose a good player and then buy some crap player what not even worth the money we would pay for him thats what i can see watford doing i hope we dont but i just have that feeling
