Newcastle and Reading interested according to a very unreliable newspaper, out of contract in the summer.
He is bound to attract interest as he is a hot property, but Reading will be in the Championship next season and he won't get a game at Newcastle. At Watford he has a clear path to the first team. The club can offer him a good package, especially if they get promoted. I can't say 100% he will sign for Watford, but I would be surprised if he didn't.
We are in dangerous territory at the moment with Bond. He's a cracking young prospect and it sounds like he is now mature enough to compete with Almunia on a daily basis. I really hope he signs on with us. I would hate to lose a young prospect like Bond. Why have we waited so long to tie him down? Is Bond waiting to see how this season pans out before he makes a decision with Watford? Every time I see one of our academy players linked with a move elsewhere it scares the living daylights out of me.
Sounds like this has shaken, but not stirred you. I'll PM you what I know on the situation, as it's For Your Eyes Only.
Hope we sign him up on a long-term contract ASAP. Deserves to keep his place in the team also. The club should view Bond as competition to Almunia, not just back up.
It doesn't scare me as much as it used to. The days of losing our best players for little money are gone (for now!).
You can only assume that the club are actively working on keeping him. I would agree with others, in that he would be wise to stay with the club and continue his development. He is remarkably young to be playing championship football as a goalkeeper. He has a 20 year career ahead of him if he keeps focused and fit. Plenty of time to secure a high earning contract with a major club (perhaps us in 5 years!). I have only seen the Wolves match, but by all accounts he is doing well in the other games he has played. If he does sign that will be Bond, Hoban, Smith and Murray who they have signed in recent times form the academy or youth system. I would say that compares favourably with most other clubs in terms of nurturing and progressing young talent.
You've got to say that when it comes to making the best of emerging talent, Nobody Does it Better than the Pozzos. However, downgrading the academy could have a Domino affect on our youngsters, meaning they wish to leave the club to progress. I just hope we continue to maintain the Goodhead of steam we've built up recently or it could be Goodnight Charlie.
I can't help thinking Malky convinced Loach to stay with similar persuasions when Spurs came sniffing round.
Definately a real prospect, making saves enough to keep Almunia on his toes. Wou,d love to see him sign. Just feel like Almunia would be number one, mainly because of his organisation. But really looks like he is competition now and not just back up.
Why would Bond uproot himself to sign for a team where he will be 2nd or 3rd choice? Almunia won't be our keeper forever, I suppose, Bond is the natural successor and he is already proving himself.
Possibly, but Loach's progress seemed to come to a complete halt, and then his standards started to fall. He failed to remove his weaknesses. There is nothing to say that this could not happen to Bond, but at 19 and what appears to be a good attitude, he is a very viable prospect.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10275361.Zola_confident_Bond_will_sign_new_deal/ Posted this link on the wrong bloody thread earlier. Apologies.
Stop getting bond wrong! The music is : der, der, der, ( quieter) der, der, derrrrrrrrr ie: gold-fin-ger, Octo-puss-y, manwiththegold- den-gun, sky- fall-all
Why would he want to go to either of those clubs ? Both incumbents Krul and Federici are likely to retain their spots and Krul is also a youngster. Unless they were transferred of course. In the long run maybe a season or so Bond is destinied to become the number one keeper on the club's books with another highly rated keeper in Bonham as his understudy. It's just lazy idle journalism putting two and two together and once more coming up with five.
By definition, I'm not sure you could have two irreplaceable things. Surely if the first were irreplaceable, the second wouldn't be as good and would therefore be replaceable by someone/something at the standard of the first person/thing? Night lads xx
10 a dozen keeper. Nothing special. Makes errors that cost goals. Typical Englander between the sticks. Get rid.
