    BAD NEWS IN RED
    (lower case only)

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is tipping Ben Foster to replace Paul Robinson as England's number one.

The Spurs keeper, who has 29 caps to his name, is currently Steve McClaren's first-choice while Foster is yet to make an international appearance.

However, Ferguson believes Foster has the talent to do a job for his country and has also confirmed he will be back at Old Trafford next season.

The 23-year-old is currently in his second season-long loan spell with Watford, but will vie for the starting job with The Red Devils after the summer.

"Ben will be England's next goalkeeper - if not very soon," explained Ferguson.

"I get a report on him every month from Adrian Boothroyd. It covers everything - Ben's form, training and development.

"He will come back to us next season. Bringing him here from Stoke was fantastic."

    Typical Fergie

Not missing a trick with his timing

He knows we are on a high at the moment, so as we are playing his precious Man U next, he chooses to try and deflate us a little with this announcement

wonder whether he will be number one for united next season. As I doubt van der saar or foster will want to be sitting on the bench...

But we really knew this anyway. Ben was always going back to Man U this summer and was always going to have a crack at getting into their team. He owes it to himself to have a go. Not many people can say they've been signed by Man Utd and if he left to sign for us without ever playing a match for them his career will be one big 'what if'. I reckon he'll go back there and flourish, but if not I'd expect Watford to be very high on his list of clubs to join. Particularly if we're Premiership.

I am a big Rich fan but the last 3 / 4 games Fozz has been awesome.

When he goes to Manure as no1 next season we are lucky to have Lee as replacement.

He is seriously the English No 1 goalkeeper (Ben) right now. Let's be happy that we have made him what he is.

Never - two years wasted of Rich Lees career.

It`s been great for Rich to work with Ben and Alec all week, which has helped no doubt.

Rich has always been a sound shot stopper, and with his improved kicking and `shouting skills` he will be an able replacement for Ben next season.

The interesting point that `Sir` Alec (not the ManU one) has said is how much both keepers have improved. (unlucky Blackburn)

The United boss seems happy with the monthly reports on Ben,received from Aidy, and is likely to loan us more developing players of quality as it`s a win- win situation for both clubs.

Man Utd. still have Kusczak, who is as good, if not better than Foster.

Disagree. If Ben Foster hadn't have turned up Richard Lee wouldn't be a Watford player now. Aidy didn't rate him and would have sold him and signed someone permanent. But Foster became available and Lee only went out on loan. Plus it gave Lee an idea of the standard he needed to attain (especially in kicking) which he now seems to be doing.

I agree UEA. We are lucky that RL went off to Blackburn when he did and that it took so long to secure Ben for loan this season. Alec has managed to develop both players and now we are undoubtedly in the position of having England's No 1 for the remainder of this season and a superb replacement for next. We didn't even have to pay over the top for the privilege! Add in the sale of Ashley for £8/£9.65 mio to the fact we've got the Sky Prem money and you have to think that we've had the most amazing turn-around in out fortunes since the ****** era. Now if only Marlon hadn't damaged his knee...

lee's kicking improved because he paid for personal coaching during the close season.

He came back from Blackburn with a years less first team experience.

Had Ben not come to wfc in the first place we would not have been able to afford another keeper to buy, Alec always rated Rich and he did fine in pre season two years ago when i talked to both Alec and Aidy on tour and they both told me they would use the keeper as a sweeper. Exactly what Rich did in denamrk, but he was passing the ball to the defenders in space and we played the ball around rather than the HOOOOOOOOOOOOOF which we adopted once bozo came in.

Rich has lost a crucial 2 years experience at the expense of alex fungus face and a chef.

We would have got promoted with Rich in goal. probably automatically.

Lol. Sorry but I don't buy it Paddy. Richard Lee and Aidy have both admitted that he was on the way out and that only a radical improvement over the past year saved him from the chop. If Aidy was happy with him he'd have started last season in goal for us - fact!

    Paddy,

I support Rich and have no problem with him in goal this season or next but you are so wrong. Fossie is a better keeper and Rich has not been held back - his time at Blackburn and working with Fozz has improved him.

As for next season I believe that Aidy will bring another keeper in as number one.

TWO seasons ago before ben was even a footballer (tongue in cheek, he was at stokes 3rd team), Rich would have been our keeper, there was no other choice for AB. Alec would have been cover.

why didn't Aidy just release him for a fee of £100k or such like figure rather than give the option to Blackburn to buy at £500k. He knows RL is a good keeper but hasn't given him any kind of chance because of Bozo who is being built up for one hell of a mighty fall. He wasn't that impressive yesterday and yet again flapped which could have cost us dearly and his kicking was average with a couple going out.

Very few of you Ben can't do athing wrong Foster, totally miss my point - Ben is a decnt keeper, i agree, at what cost to WFC is it taht w have given the experience to him over our own decent goalie. It may well be that Rich would be called up for England to sit on the bench had he been given the two years that Ben has got.

we will never know now, but newxt season we will no doubt get some mediocre keeper for £1 million squid for RL to compete with.

You will never convince me that Bozo being here for two seasons was for the good for the long term of WFC.
