Probably because they failed to make Europe for only the second time since 08/09.

During the period he turned put for us he wasn't fit. He was definitely a liability then but he seems to have improved since.

I think (might be wrong though) that Trabsonspor were in FFP trouble so cant make any signings or at least are severely restricted in making signings.

He defo had errors in there but in fairness he also put in some decent enough periods of play with us... And after we binned him off he played in the World Cup and actually got Man of the Match in their defeat v Germany !! Where in fairness he was a beast!! I remember him doing a cruyff turn in front of goal and JUST getting away with it.

It doesn't matter that he was very good against the world champions? Last season was hardly the best this club has ever seen and he was also never fit. What actually matters is that he was apparently fairly good in Turkey last year but got injured (which is more of an issue) and maybe an asset.

Agree that we never saw the best of him and I would never write him off for what was little more than a cameo for us.

There again I'd have Tamas back too, he had great distribution that was made for Vydra. It's a shame he got injured.

Bring him back, he could make great back up and possibly even push for a starting slot.

Was wondering what happened to the big Belk and came across an interview he gave last week. He seems like a top bloke who just wants to play football - it says that he wanted to go on loan to the Championship in January to play some football but a domestic loan wouldn't have been permitted within the terms of his work permit. Unsurprisingly he's lost his place in the national team and seems like he just wants to get out and play football somewhere. Hopefully he'll find a club this summer...

Yes he seems to have completely ****** his career by joining us. He should be at his peak at the moment and is just sitting on his **** (much as he often did when he played for us). Do feel sorry for the guy.

I wonder what terms there are which mean he couldn't go on a domestic loan. Regardless, was there anything preventing him going on a loan abroad?

I do feel sorry for him. He's pretty much the forgotten man of Watford FC. He was certainly never bad enough in his few appearances to warrant being completed excluded from the team, in my opinion. Perhaps there's something more that we don't know about - we've all heard about the players with attitude problems and though he's rarely been mentioned in those conversations, it's a possibility.

I would imagine it is because he no longer fulfill the work permit requirements as he has not been playing for us. The new club would need to apply for a permit and this has been tightened up since he joined I believe. He no longer gets in the international side so does not fulfill the requirements.

I do wonder why something was not sorted with him in January so that he could leave and rip-up his contract, once he was not included in the squad, that was it. He must have a couple of years left on his contract as he joined Granada on a 5 year contract in 2013.

I wonder if Granada would have any interest in taking him back. I reckon he's good enough for that level, given his performances for basically everyone except for us.

He was poor for us. Clumsy and slow.

La Liga top flight? No chance! If they were to get relegated, yes, but he is too slow and lacks the ball skills to play in one of the top leagues. I am sure he could play in the Turkish or Greek league fine.

From what I've seen of Granada this season, and based on what I saw of Belkalem in his few appearances for us, he's probably on a par with their current defenders. Certainly able to contribute to the team more than he's ever going to here.

Saying that, I've admittedly only see about 10 Granada games this season and (clearly) not much of Belkalem, so I'm not best placed to give an opinion.
