Where are the rumours from? In a way it makes sense given Beckham's interest in establishing football academies. Its more likely that he would invest in our Academy thought rather than the club.

I think that this thread should be taken more seriously. I heard a while back that Beckham is indeed considering investing in the club and has potentially already done so. What I've heard is that Beckham is investing in several businesses and property in the Hertfordshire area and is interested in staying involved in football and obviously the fact that he is a fairly local lad and his connections with Elton etc. have contributed to him setting Watford in his sights. Whether this turns out to be true or not I don't know. It could easily turn out to be the load of rubbish that I presumed it to be when I first heard about it a couple of months ago but the fact that Rostron has also heard about it makes me think that there might be a bit more credibility in this rumour.

If he had ever dialed 01923 from his mobile or even worn yellow then it would be splashed all over the back and front pages. There's chance of this happening as Jimmy Russo being used as a umpa lumpa in the next Charlie and the Chocolate factory film and thats not likely to happen - is it ? emm

He was interviewed last night after G Nevs testimonial and never mentioned any investment in Watford. He is clearly trying to conceal this and the fact he never said anything is conclusive proof that he is Watford's mystery backer!!
Sorry but this is rubbish. Why would he invest in the club?! Yes Elton John is a close friend but I think people are clutching at straws here. Hope i'm wrong and he gives us millions, but I can't see it myself
Just playing devil's advocate here but there must be rules against current players owning other football clubs? That's the explanation that I heard for him not going public anyway.
Last time I checked Charlie is grown up now and has settled in a Schwabian Village on the Austrian/Swiss border. Umpa Lumpas are now extinct btw.
This news worries me, someone very well placed told me there were only 3 jobs Malky would leave us for, Norwich, Scotland, and Al-Queda. Al-Queda suits Malky and i'm worried Beckham may take the compensation and run, if he does go can't say I hope he does well there, could well take Eustace with him.
What could somebody that rich want with our club?! Who are his backers? Where did they get their money from?! This smells very fishy, I don't like it. I think he will sell off our assets to the lowest bidder, flog the ground to the hospital and run! RIP WFC.

He has written into his contract with MLS (remember MLS players are employees of the league) a clause that provides ownership interests in an MLS club TBD upon his retirement. The thing about MLS is that money doesn't buy success, thanks to the salary cap. AEG, the Galaxy owners headed by Phil Anschutz, make "rich Beckham" look like the guy who watches the ticket gate on the tube (hi Mick!), and they have the decks stacked so far in their favor in every imaginable way, yet still haven't won the MLS cup since 2005.
