Presumably he's in contention for Cameroon's African Nations squad? He'll want to be out playing football if that's the case and will want to impress. That or it'll be another Lucas Neill signing!

 

Except Bassong is and was a significantly better player, and about 10 years younger.

 

It would make sense to bring in a defender. The negative approach on Saturday came down to a desire to protect a makeshift defence.

Worth mentioning the Daily Fail were first to the McKinlay news so this Bassong rumour could have something in it.

 

According to Scottish Herald, McKinlay summoned to Pozzo after being in meeting to sign a player.

 

McKinlay asks for Bassong, Gino tells him no, McKinley realises what he's in for and kicks off?

 

Perhaps McKinlay went out on his own to sign Bassong and fell foul of Gino as a result.

We honestly don't know a whole lot about this situation.

Great signing - espesh with the injuries we have in that position!

 

So the theories about McKinley getting above his station appear to be wide of the mark then.

 

Can only be a good thing given our defensive injuries.

Seems a bit strange considering he was the Norwich team captain and is their current club vice-captain.

 

According to their forums, he had a blazing row with Adams and has been training with the u21s since.

Apparently he often has a great first season, they said he would probably be the most talented CB in the division, but then seems to lose concentration.

If we manage to sign him up for the season and keep him fit that we should really be looking at those automatic places.

Well, that would certainly explain why Adams is willing to let him leave to a potential promotion rival.

 

Deeney will sort him out in seconds, not a problem at all.

 

With Bassong being loaned, that tips us over the edge for numbers we are allowed in a match day squad. Andrews is recovering from injury, but is likely to feature once fit. Clearly Vydra, Toszer & Munari all have to play.....so I guess Ighalo won't get much of a look in now, until January....unless any of the others get an injury of course.

 

A great first season may be all we need.

Anyway this proves that it was nonsense Billy went because he was talking to the player. It would however be interesting to know what Bassong thinks of the new manager who I assume he hasn't met!

 

I think this is the only bad part of the Tozser loan deal. It does limit our options a bit.

Great signing I believe, if he impresses then hopefully we get him permanently in january.

 

Brilliant signing. He's a difficult character but a far better player than Tamas.
