http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2008/08/07/sportstory11765433t0.asp "Meanwhile, the completion of Sol Bamba’s £100,000 transfer to Watford has been delayed while the Hornets fly members of their backroom staff out to Beijing, where the player is representing the Ivory Coast at the Olympic Games, to carry out a medical."
Is the game on TV?! I've noticed it's live here, although he doesn't seem to be starting. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7534964.stm
No he's on the touchline having his boll ocks cupped by a bloke in a Watford tracksuit and being asked to cough
Good to see the Ivory Coast losing, if they got knocked out in the first round (they also have to play Serbia and Australia) then they Bamba can be back in time for Saturday week.
Nope, it's the first day of the real thing. The warm up tournament (ING Cup) was last week, Ivory Coast drew 1-1 with Netherlands and lost on penalties in the final.
He didn't at all in the final, I couldn't find the line-ups anywhere for the two games before but I dount it, which is rather irritating considering he might as well not be there.
To be fair, they probably started swimming about 6 months ago... no wonder poor old Francis is taking so long to come back from injury. He's probably lying on a treatment table as we speak wondering when someones going to come in and see him.
Really hope you guys sign him. His first season with the Pars wasn't too bad, but last season he was flippin' awful. Easy £100K for us
Could this also be part of the reason why we didn't sign anyone else today- no one was about to give them a medical?!
You would've thought so but I'm guessing they didn't want to rush into a medical etc unless the money for the fee/wages was available?
I don't know why as I haven't even seen him play, but I really hope this bloke signs. I guess it's because I see him as a direct replacement for Shittu, he's tall (which neither DeMerit or Bromby really are), apparently very physically strong and good in the air, and has the added bonus of supposedly being fairly technically good too (that's one thing he's got over Shittu!).
