With bad weather coming in for the next couple of days, the way our pitch is having to be covered - should the ref make a decision very late Friday evening to postpone the match - IF - the rain keeps falling today and tomorrow?

It will not take a lot to make the pitch flooded again.

Its as bad down there as it is up here then, pi55ing down and blowing a gale at the moment up here.

If the pitch is covered then the rain over the past week and indeed until noon Saturday is almost entirely irrelevant. The ref can't look at the pitch, go "given the forecast it'll not handle that much water" and call it off. I must admit I was glad to see the rain stop against Stocky as the pitch didn't seem to be coping brilliantly. However, with Sky Tv in the mix I can't see Saturday's game being called off.

IMO the game is already a doubt as to being able to be completed if it rains heavy once the sheets are taken off - our pitch is awful at the mo - certain area's will be unplayable again very quickly if there is continued rain from say 30 mins before kick off.

Lets hope the sun shines sat morning until 2.30pm.

How's the french weather? - oui oui wee wee

Could bring you a bag for frozen snails from the supermarket if you like? Go well with your pre-match guiness?

It's not raining here in Hemel and hasn't done for most of the day, can't imagine it's any different in Watford.

Don't speak too soon, it can get very cold around there at this time of year. When I was doing my year the visitors who came in January/February refused to leave my flat it was so cold. But I suppose that was before global warming was invented!

Its interesting that the clubs web site are making a big deal out of the "pitch cover" and say that a number of games have recently been postponed due to bad weather.
Well when the Wigan game was called off it was the only one in the Prem that day and the nearest other club that had a similar problem was Northampton.
If they were honest they would admit that this is a problem we have had for decades and that with such a high water table and the best part of a river flowing down under the Rous stand its going to carry on for the next decade or two.

Global warming should save us a small fortune in the future:)
