He's got it all except the composure, he gets in the position and then tends to lose his head and stumble or get his feet caught etc.

 

Love Ashley, but is he not a bit of a busted flush at this point? He's just turned 31, and when he has played over the past two seasons, it's been predominantly as a fullback. Plus, of course, if we are indeed playing 3-5-2, we don't really have a place for a winger of his qualities.

Have you seen how many times our wing backs have been caught out in pre season already? also if he is sticking with the 3-5-2 formation another wing back who can play the role well wouldnt go a miss

I suggest that the longer we go without signing any one of our three intended targets, logic suggests if we eventually get any of the trio it would be Boufal. As he's injured so there's not such an immediate hurry to tie up a deal.

 

For the millionth time on these boards .... Wingbacks are not fullbacks, they can't get caught out. It's why there's an extra defender to cover.

 

Wing backs still have defensive duties. They can't just run around willy nilly upfield for 90 mins.
