Any good as our striker?

 

I hope not. We could do a lot better.

 

Not sure he's ready for regular premier league football - especially as a starter - but could well be one for the future.
However sky sports news saying we're interested in loaning him which would make no sense whatsoever to me.
West Ham didn't trust him to lead their line, instead spending £16m on Hernandez. Are we so far behind West Ham that we're happy to take their young players, incapable of making an impact there and develop them in our team?

I'd hope that we're about as interested in loaning him as West Ham are in loaning Jerome Sinclair from us.

 

Might as well loan Vydra back instead.

Would love him back. Every box ticked in what we're looking for in a forward. Perfect as an impact sub or for when we're chasing a game. Ideal if Silva went 3-5-2, on occasions he has at Hull. Plus points are he knows the setup, works perfectly with Troy, wouldn't expect to be starting week in week out and is one of the best finishers I've seen at Watford.
Loan them Sinclair as a sweetener.

No, some of us aren't. We've seen Ranegie, Ighalo, Oulare, Okaka and maybe others I've forgotten and an in-form Vydra is better than any of them.

His weakness is that he's a confidence player, and if he's played out of position (on the wing or as a target man) or if he's in and out of the team, he's crap. But well worth a punt if Troy stays.

 

On the minus side, not good enough

 

He's not coming back. Ever. He's spent the vast majority of the last two seasons playing in his favoured position in the division below for two different clubs and been essentially useless.

He isn't god enough for the Premier League. Move on.

 

Agreed. Overrated, one season wonder, who was conned by his Agent into thinking he was a Premier player. Needs to get his head down and change his attitude to get beyond an average Championship player.

Two season wonder. I'm not saying he's the answer but compared to Fletcher I know who I would choose.
He fits this club and I have no doubt he would score premier league goals for us.

Tbh I've not followed him or the teams he's played for. But just because he's struggled to find the net for them means nothing. He had two very productive seasons with us and believe that he would be more than capable. Are you now trying to say to me he wasn't a good finisher for Watford?

 

No, I'm trying to say you need to stop living in the past, and that even his good spells with us were in the division below. He's scored 8 goals in this last 64 games in the Championship, I cannot fathom how you can say his most recent goalscoring form and performances mean "nothing". There is literally nothing to suggest he is anywhere "capable" of playing Premier League football, especially when in the past two years he's been barely anywhere near good enough for Championship football.

Ighalo was brilliant in the Championship when we signed him and scored goals for fun in the first half of the 2015/2016 season in the division we now actually play in, shall we get him back too?

 

You should read what I said. I would prefer Matty V on loan instead of Fletcher. End of story.

 

Ok, well the end result is the same - Vydra is not good enough, neither is Fletcher, and we shouldn't be signing either of them.

 

Mercury reporting that Huddersfield and Brighton are interested in loaning him from the Hammers as well as us. Seems ludicrous, we might as well play Sinclair up top because he's no worse. Apparently Fletcher's best spell was scoring 9 in 26 games on loan to Barnsley. No thanks.

 

Agreed. Who I don't know but I'm sure it will be an improvement on what we have.

£7m for a striker who has only scored 5 senior league goals- all for Barnsley- is absolutely obscene, given that he'd cost more than Hughes or chalobah- who have both scored more goals from midfield...

 

And people wonder why we haven't bought a striker yet..

 

Agreed but we do need to buy one who we genuinely believe can score at this level. We can't just sit on the sidelines and say they are all too expensive and then moan about it when we are in the bottom 3 after 10 games having scored less than a goal a game.

 

In League 1.....

 

Makes Ian Nacho look like a bargain.

 

If he scores goals for them, he probably was.
