There are some fascinating stories on this thread, great read!

3rd generation myself, all my dad's side are from London / Watford so it was never in any doubt who I supported. My Mum actually used to be a Luton fan as her Dad settled there after the war from Poland but now she's a ST holder in the Rookery and has been for many years. I don't even recall going to my first game and getting that "hooked" feeling that others talk about, Watford was my team and I needed no convincing otherwise.

Got my first season ticket when Ray Lewington took charge and hold treasured memories throughout those times, seeing us beat Portsmouth 3-0 & Southampton 5-2 in the League cup under the floodlights was just magical. The 1-0 victory over West Brom in the FA Cup when they were in the Premier League and we were battling relegation in Division One is one of my favourite games of all time. Helguson smashed the winner home in front of the Rookery and sent the place into bedlam. I'm getting shivers typing this! Going to Stoke away on the penultimate game of the season a winning 1-0 to confirm our safety was brilliant as well.

This is why over the last 2 seasons it irritated me seeing an XI of mercenaries who could not give a f**k about the team or club half arsing it around the pitch for 80% of the season, yet we were shouted down by fans of other clubs for complaining saying that we should be grateful to be in the Premier League. I do not care what league Watford are in, I don't care about all the hysteria surrounding the Premier League, all I want to see is passionate players representing my town in every match whether it be in this league or League 2. I will forever hold the West Brom, Stoke, Portsmouth & Southampton victories over any other Premier League experience that we have so far mustered up. All this money that we have means nothing to me.

My mums dad was Watford and I use to be obsessed with the Brazilian national team when I was 3-4 years old. I supported them over England. I would make Brazilian national flags on A4 paper and colour it in with my crayons.

My grandad wisely tricked me by telling me that Watford are just like Brazil. I asked him how, he said they play in yellow. At 3-4 years old that was good enough for me and so began my life long journey as a Watford fan.

I could have been Spurs (my dads team), West Ham (my other grandparents team), Norwich (where I was born) and my distant family also has some Boro supporters. Thankfully though my grandad got in early and showed me the way to go. My mum, who is a massive Watford fan, took too long to introduce me to them, so grandad took over.

My son is 4th generation at 15months old. He doesn’t have a choice. He already has the full kit, the mini football, the bowl, spoon and fork set, a Watford teddy and a couple of Watford outfits. All of which was shipped to New York as that’s where I now live.

Thankfully though I will be back in England in 2 weeks with my wife and son for a month. Going to see if I can get tickets for a game while I’m back.
