''Bassini''...and for that reason, i'm out. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ews/9801731.Bassini_looking_to_lease_out_pub/
The bloke in the article that is trying to lease the pub is Josh Price who is a big Watford fan. He is also brother to Neil Price who played for us in the cup final. If he gets it it can only be a good thing.
In the long term, the pub will make money once the Health Campus project is complete, but this will take anuything up to 10 years. I knew a while back that he wanted to keep it and this was why all that time ago he did the pub as his first project, so when he was to sell, he had something to keep.
As fickle as it sounds, and I have my reasons, if bassini is benefitting in some way from me having a pre-match drink, then I'd rather stay in the west herts.
I don't think that's fickle at all. Rather, I'd say that any Watford fan who does put their money into his pub has a short memory or lack of understanding. No offence to Price, but if you lie with dogs you get fleas.
If someone leases the pub from Bassini, then surely the proprietor is the chap who leases it. He might not own the building, but he won't owe Bas anything beyond the rent. The profits would go to whoever steps up to run it.
That's clearly Bas' rationale, however, as long as it's a viable business, it's profitable for Bas. I would rather it became a failure and force Bas to sell and **** off once and for all
and they will have their reasons for doing so. From where i'm sitting, he can stick his Bentley, tilted head, and pub up his ringer.
There is a lot of vitriol towards Baz, maybe those guy's know something I don't? Personally I have nothing against the man, other than he appears to be a business buffoon! I believe he is basically harmless, and that he is just the son of a rich and successful business family, who has not inherited his parents business brains. I shall probably use the "Lion" unless it comes out that he really did deliberately try to **** the club over!!!
Exactly my thoughts. Bassini could have robbed us blind and done us over, but he didn't - I think a he was a bit out of his depth running ht club and being under such a public eye. He did deliver on his promises though - we have a new pitch and a new pub, all in a very short time frame.
Did HE complete all of these ? The pitch wasn't paid for at the time the pozzo's took over (only deposit paid) The 2 new screens have only been 50% paid for The £500k that is 'cost' bassini to buy the pub was his own money and not the clubs ?? And then theirs the £500k new tannoy system ! I wish we could forget about bassini when the new season starts but I'll be walking past his new venture every home game.
HE didn't. He was the chairman of a multimillion company, he shouldn't be expected to be doing everything himself. Paying the deposit is good, I'm sure the club worked out that repayments would be the best option, we are quite capable of paying it back and they're hardly going to repossess the pitch!! We still have the screens, and if we cant afford it we can sell the other one. Again, while Bas was chairman we got a new screen. If there were still payments to be made I'm sure that was taken into account when the club was sold. The pub was owned by the club for the club, so rightfully should be paid by the club. People have gotten to used to seeing chairmned come in and pump their own money into a club the job is to own and run it, not finance it as a gift to the fans.
Do you know how all of this work was financed? Just to say, hypothetically speaking, we sold our top goalscorer and were hawking our captain out to clubs to try and get money for him, just so we could pay for a new pitch, a screen and and a PA system, would you be happy? Or what about if our overdraft was extended to pay for this putting us in desperate dept? I don't know the ins-and-outs of Baz's deals but did he actually put money into the club or was it earnt from player sales etc? Perhaps he did finance the club through all of this but potentially, he has have papered over the cracks by spending the 'football' money, not his. Surely it is a case of balancing things, not masking over the issues.
We have a pitch that has been partly paid for (probably out of the Sarcens money. We do not have a pub, that is Bazzas, we just paid for the refurb.
Some peoples' posts sound like the victim of a rape who refuses to press charges and instead, ends up dating her attacker.
Totally agree Hollywood. I haven't spent a penny in there so far and won't do so until Bassini has sold up.
Neither you or I know. We stayed up didn't we? In football why is it so wrong to make money by selling players? It's not even mathmatically possible for all clubs to do this, on average, all clubs break even. A small minority spend lots, so therefore the majority sell more than they buy.
To all those who are praising Baz, ask yourself why a prominent administrator was a part of the negotiations.
Precisely what I was thinking. I think people have missed a large chunk of what happened over the last few days. Running off to the local paper saying the takeover was done for. Andronikou's involvement. Something was going on there, and it wasn't ever for the benefit of the club.
If rumours are to be believed and there is no reason to suppose they were wrong.... They could rename the pub The Crooked Gibbet.
I think it is SAFE to say that the KEY to the events over the last couple of weeks is all the cash disappearing.
Are you implying Baz nicked all the pub's takings to pay for a lads holiday for him and Eddie Oshodi?
