I have a region 1 american DVD (The office box set) but it doesnt play in my SONY SR150 , i only bought it because another Region 1 DVD from America (International velvet for the missus , dont ask) i bought , DID work so i assumed all region 1`s would work , but , apparently not any ideas?
I have the same problem. Lots of DVDs region 1 that I cannot watch any more. I once was used to watch them because I cracked the DVDplayer. Probably the easiest way to solve the problem. Have a look at this website, it's a dvd-player hacks database. Hope you find the code to hack your model. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks Now I watch them on my pc and that's complicating things because I have to unlock RC code from each DVD. I found some free ripper software, but none of them worked on my DVDs. If any of you could suggest me a good reliable one, I'd be very grateful. (DVDs not Blu-ray!)
I got myself a multi-region DVD when I moved out here, to stop the vast collection of movies I'd accumulated becoming worthless. Don't suppose it's worth buying a new DVD player just to watch a couple of DVD's, but if you're planning on more it might be worthwhile. They do exist though, if it's a line you'd consider going down. I hope you solve this issue, because The Office is excellent.
If you can't find a remote control hack with an internet search then getting a multi region DVD player is probably the easiest thing to do. If you were local and have the ability to use an S video connector you could have had by old generation 1 Japanese imported player which I don't use anymore. Bought when you couldn't get DVDs in the UK. Have a look on ebay. Certainly ebay UK has multi region players from £5 2nd hand and new ones are not that much.
my DVD player is one of the few that cannot be unlocked (according to countelss searches) so i whizzed down Tesco earlier and grabbed a Toshiba bog standard one that has an easy unlock sequence , saves messing around the office , great stuff , just pick an episode if you have had a bad day and jobs on...
