Anyone else worried about Murray?

With the 4 signings today (not sure of positions so might be totally irrelevant) that brings us to 10 on loan and Almunia/Hall on contracts is anyone else worried about Murray actually playing this season?

He hasn't had the best 2 games by his standard and will Zola even be aware of (or care) about the potential he showed in the last 6 months of last season!

Murray will be sold for the best possible price...when he reaches his peak. But i share your concern.

We have only signed one today, he doesn't look fit to me and appears to be heavier than last year

murray has looked a bit unfit to me thus far. he will get better, and is definitely part of zolas plans going forward.

like optimistichornet said he hasnt looked fit and tbf he hasnt exactly had the best of times off the pitch recently. Zola seems to rate him though

It's true though, he's not an unknown entity anymore, clubs will work him out. I certainly don't see him scoring almost 1 in 2 like last year.

Yes I think his position is definately under threat. Zola will dip him in and out of the team but I dont think as the season progresses he'll be a regular.

People may not like it but just because he's home grown does not guarantee him a starting role, he still has to perform as he did the back end of last season.
im wondering if the pressure may affect him a little so it may do him good to be benched more this season. I'm sure he will learn from some of the new guys being bought in. Zola needs to reassure him he is part of his plans if he wants to keep his confidence up, but we dont know if he's thinking he's not quite up to it and may sell him if someone starts sniffing round.
Lets be honest by the amount of players coming in the Pozzo's want Watford in the Premiership as soon as possible, and they will be brutal to get there like it or not.

    Few things about Murray

    1. He will be a marked man
    2. Had many personal issues recently and if you follow him on twitter it seems to have hit hi hard
    3. This is his first FULL season. As a lad, no training for a few weeks, he more than likely ate anything and drank all kinds of crap after being told to relax.

He is young. Plenty of time. Look at others who caught the eye early and moved quickly. E.g. John bostock - on loan some where. Connor wickham - going out on loan to the championship.

Palace and Zaha and clyne ( until he moved recently) are sensible. Like us.

He will go, but not yet. If he did go - will not become the player he can become

Murray was smoking whilst on holiday. Doesn't mean much but shows he abused his body during close season.

    No

He is not yet fully 100% fit from his knock that is all - he will get more attention this year - but will cope fine

Agreed he does look a little more portly, and is obviously not carrying an injury, otherwise he wouldn't be playing.
Maybe the system doesn't suit him or he is just trying to adjust like the others from last season.

If he has been smoking and over eating that is a thing that needs to be taken up with him as soon as possible. He is a professional athlete and all footballers those with any sense look after themselves even during the summer break.

However he needs to be cut some slack after what has been going on off the pitch. He's still a young kid. All kids have off and on periods. Even Lionel Messi was dipped in and out of Barca. Zola can appreciate players technical abilities and will keep an eye on Sean. If anything it is a boon for Sean to learn off Gianfranco.

So much needless speculationa , hysteria and paranoia on the forum at present much of it created by the nutty Professor and WST.

And Floro Flores. No seriously. Granada take on Sevilla and Udinese take on La Viola today (at near enough the same time as us). Let's hope the trinity rack up nine points.

    a weekly treble bet -
    watford to lose
    Grananda draw
    Udinese to win

probs a draw patent may pay dividends weekly..

Pads I'd say we can eke out a win. Granada to draw against a revitalized Sevilla and Udinese to also get a draw at Fiorentina who have spent wisely enough themselves.

Indeed, I wonder what the odd's the bookies will put on that.

I think we should do an accumulator every week with wfc, Granada and Udinese in the v-bookies event section on here, with higher stakes for correct results with all 3 teams.

Jeez, bit early to be picking on the lad. He's keeping Anya and Forsyth out of the team at the mo. I thought some of his balls into the box were real quality yesterday. He also got really stuck in for someone so small
Like the rest of the team, it's early days and fitness isn't quite there yet.. Hopefully he'll start on Tuesday.. He'll utterly destroy bradford!

Sorry if it sounded like I was hating on him, I think he's quality and should start every game this season lol! Was just worried that maybe the new owners/manager didn't know his potential

The fact that Zola started him in both games, despite missing parts of pre season due to injury and personal reasons, I think shows that we need not worry about the management knowing his potential.

However, it's important from our perspective that we keep in mind the fact he is only 18 and will be unlikely to manage all 46 games at a high standard. Hopefully Zola is smart enough to manage his playing time properly.

Ridiculous that anyone thinks Murray is experiencing 'second season syndrome'!

Sure, it happened to Jenkins and to a certain extent Hodson, but Murray has only played 3 games this season and yesterday I thought he played well.

As mentioned by someone else, he's now a marked man, because on his day he's probably one of, if not, the best player outside the Premiership. I went to Palace last weekend and it was obvious that Palace saw him as the threat and every time he got the ball he had 3 players around him. The great thing about him is he's extremely intelligent and will make more space for other players like Abdi and Vydra.

Part of the reason we got pinned back yesterday for the last 30 minutes or so - as Zola alluded to - was because we didn't have the fitness to keep pressing. Vydra's still not quite there, nor Murray, Iwelumo's not the best presser from the front anyway, and Abdi's not quite there, so there's still plenty of room for improvement.

murray played very well yesterday for the first 60 mins, tired as the game went on but still a very solid performance.

I said this towards the end of last season. Unfortunately, for whatever reason my post then wasn't picked up on at all but I do think he is being sounded out by the opposition beforehand. He's a cracking young talent, but the other teams in the championship will have been doing their homework over the summer and any manager worth his salt will have sounded him out as a man to mark out of games. This slight dip was always going to happen, but he's an excellent young talent and he will pick up from where he left off soon enough, and will start tearing teams a new one again. I have absolutely no doubt about that at all.
