Anyone else with talktalk?

I've just discovered the talk2go app which for me basically means free calls anywhere from anywhere so long as I'm within range of an open wifi network. That includes from my mobile to mobiles here or abroad (free except for the £5pm international boost on my 'anytime' broadband package). I can also take my incoming landline calls while I'm on the move for free.

I'm not sure who else does all this but I bet they can't beat the < £30pm that I pay for broadband, phone and (payg) mobile.

It really isn't for the money. I don't get London rates up here.

Neither do I live in suffolk.

4 hours on the phone to talktalk was enough to put me off

WTF were you trying to do? ... in six years I've had no problems that haven't been sorted in minutes.

LOL can't be worse than NTL were .... I got triple billed, paid one of them and still got cut off for three weeks. AOL were also sh!te, cancelled after a week of browsing at half the pace of snails. They handily forgot to cancel the direct debit too.

But you are paying £16.70 for the line are you not? ... a non dect phone would cost you a fiver to buy

I know - But the Internet also comes through there, as well as internet for TV.

    I wouldn't use a home phone

I'm a builder and I know that many new customers won't trust mobile numbers so for me it's essential ... but if you really don't need it then fair play to you (though with this app you might actually save money). The phone's bandwidth is tiny and is only used during calls so I doubt you'd even notice, I know I don't.

EE now let me use my calls/texts anywhere within the european economic area at no additional cost.

    even to mobiles?

Don't get me wrong that extra fiver I pay is money well spent ... my wife is German and she's never off it.

Talk talk tookover the broadband I was on which I was happy with no issues.
The service started to drop out and on one occasion I was on the phone to their support line in the queue for over 3 hours. They contacted me a few months into their tenure. Due to the"realignment of their plans" they announced that they would be offering me an enhanced service but would have to put the price up. This effectively changed me from an unlimited speed and bandwidth to 8mb/s 10gb a month for double the price.
Needless to say I moved provider. Look at the moneysavingexpert forums. Talk talk dont get a decent rep.

They took over Tiscali an awfully long time ago but you're right they had a lot of complaints. And they're not alone in the unannounced hikes in price they got so much bad press for, however when all is considered they were still cheaper than the competition though BT have probably overtaken them in some areas since.

I guess I'm different than many because since my initial contract I've always negotiated my own deals under threat of quitting. There's no eighteen month contracts for me, I simply refuse and that's where I'm a winner, the longer I'm with them the more I can drive them down. Without the international calls (which I can quit anytime) I'm currently paying less than 4 pounds over the fixed landline charge for 12 months of 24Mbps unlimited service and they've even thrown in the TV for free (although I don't bother with it, I prefer my multinational satellite feed). I get charged for national daytime calls on weekdays but they are few.

Call me a cheapskate if you want but ....

Edit: Looking through my new deal it seems I won't get charged for national daytime calls ... bonus

When you think of the sheer numbers there will always be something and don't forget there's a lot of ignorant people out there that just aren't familiar with the technology or seem surprised when e.g. the half price for six months deal they signed up for runs out.

As for queuing on the line ... this morning I had them update my router as my PC refused to and the whole process can't have taken more than six or seven minutes. I daresay it took less time to get to the techies than it did to reboot my router.

Much of it is just internet sn obbery ... idiots tend to believe that if it costs more then it must be better.

Me and my mates would have enough material for a whole new series at least.

Nope. Been in tech support for 10 years. Managed a national company support department. When I was dealing with Talk talk their service and support was fecking awful and I know what I'm talking about. I moved to Plusnet who were brilliant.
Now on Sky as they were the only provider offering unlimited at the time and I;m more than happy with them.

I give them credit, the services in the first post seem decent, but they've burned their bridges with me.
