That incident. What was that all about? Toszer looked a little isolated during second half warm up as opposed Anya, who was being approached by every man and his dog. From what I gather Anya lost his man prior to a corner then was in no mans land when the resulting corner came in. Abdi was the one actually at fault for conceding the corner.
Wasn't there so haven't seen today's incident but it's far from the first time Toszer has confronted a team mate on the pitch when he's not happy about something. I think it's just his style.
I'm perfectly happy for him to do so frankly. He is quite intense and cares and we really do lack characters like that. Worries me a little.
I like having somebody on the pitch that holds people accountable. We've lacked somebody like that since Eustace played regularly. It also shows he cares, which is another plus in my book. As UEA says, I think it's just his style.
The ball was half cleared up towards Anya, who stood there and expected Tozser to come and challenge for it. Wigan got the ball back and the rest is history.
Anya and Abdi both left a ball to each other, a Wigan player nipped in and from that they won the corner which led to the goal. Was probably Anya's ball but he was waiting for the ball to come to him rather than go towards it. They had a little argument before the corner and then they squared up and started bumping chests after the goal. Never seen Anya riled up like that before, maybe it was Tozser's plan to get him fired up! My post in the match thread, that's how I saw it. Tozser laid the ball on to Anya to cross for the winner and they had a little hug after that. I'm sure it's all forgotten about now. God knows how many times Eustace pissed off teammates by screaming at them and quite frankly we need players like that on the pitch to make sure players keep up standards.
How many times Di Natale sent to hell a team mate after a mistake. These small quarrels between players, immediately forgotten, do not worry me at all. On the contrary, they show players who CARE, contrary to what some people write.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks Anya deserved it. Ekstrand got an earful from Toszer at Brum too. I like his style. A lot.
Very unprofessional from Anya. Some will get blinded by passing it off as 'passion' but it was shear unprofessional stupidity. A shame because yesterday was his best performance in yellow for quite a while and bagging two assists is no mean feat - but he behaved lik a ****.
When I was playing in a Notts pub league we had a lad who was like that - always having a real go at team mates who made mistakes. It didn't mean he cared more than the rest of us, it was just that he really liked the sound of his own voice and the idea that he was a leader of men. We started doing the same to him (there was plenty of opportunity), but strangely he really didn't take it very well, squared up to our left back during a kickabout session and got beaten to a pulp. I remember the incident vividly because it was the only 'fight' I've ever seen where no one tried to stop it. It went on for ages.
Anya was a muppet. Should've been hauled off. It's no coincidence we scored from the only good delivery he made all game as well.
Ikechi was at fault. Yes there was a slight hesitation between he and Almen but he was ball watching at the start of the move and it was his man that moved past him from 10 yards further back, which led to the corner and subsequently the goal. IMO Dan had every right to have a go at him. he was probably pissed off with himself as much as anything and reacted poorly. He assisted in 2 goals yesterday so you have to say it was a much better performance and at that level he warrants a place in the side. If can can get his passing sorted, particularly 5/10 yard ones he'll be back to his best. At the moment too many of our flowing attacks fizzle out to nothing when his inaccurate passes lose us possession.
I agree with Bully Boy Toszer. It's clearly Anya's fault that McCann got a free header in the 6 yard box. Anya is 6 foot 11 and should know better. ****.
Pudil will replace Paredes soon and Anya will be switched to the right. Might improve his crossing ability...
Toszer is always organising when we lose the ball or face up for a set piece...he reads the game really well, sets high standards & doesn't take kindly to people making basic mistakes, especially due to lack of concentration. We need that !
Goid help Anya if he ever plays with Di Natele. He'd be in hell faster than me to the canteen for lunch.
Urm, are you sure mate? Neither player spoke to each other and whilst everyone was talking to Anya and doing that rude boy respect thing with their fists, Tozser stood there and not one person went near him. Tozser looked a bit like Will in a club.
