Not just about the football but a bit of insight into his personal life (and the clothes everyone seems to give him stick for!) http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...nger-is-not-your-everyday-player-8744499.html
When I first saw him I thought he was lightweight - but Zola knows what he is doing - he has improved his game to be a key player with skill and confidence, and clearly his interpreter role is a big bonus. Look forward to watching him take on his man and score/assist many more this season..
I started reading it and then got distracted by a picture of Simon Cowell and ended reading that instead.
That's a really good interview; none of usual trite BS and cliches. Props to the journalist and to Anya!
Sometimes you get the feeling Anya is more of a "professor" character than Abdi. Although, "eccentric" might be a more suiting term. Brilliantly unconventional, nonetheless!!
Good interview and a great guy. Says a lot about the quality of coaching/ development at the lower levels of english football.
I take it he's not in the squad for Scotland vs England? Why not? He's surely good enough and has indicated he'd like to play for them in the past.
When I first saw him, thought he would run through a barn door if you opened it, thought all he had was pace, most improved player last season and went under the radar a bit as far as I am concerned, was at the fans forum in Kings Langley, top bloke, he has also done something else, which I would rather not say on here which makes him a top bloke as well. Scotland must have some top players keeping him out the squad, has he committed to Scotland at full level? It seems that not do we only sign top quality players now but also top blokes, good on the owners!
I wasn't overly impressed with him last season but he has been great in the opening two games of this season. Good interview!
Last season Anya was scared to take players on. This year, so far, you can't stop him. He used to run at players and then stop and cut back. This season he is like a new player. His pace is ridiculous and he will bust a gut to get where he needs to be. Other players compliment him too, the link up play is amazing. So glad he decided to stay. Great interview too. Comes across as everything you don't see in the press about footballers. Down to earth and thankful for what he has. Two league games in and he is already looking in full swing.
Great interview. He's become a very important member of the team. His pace is electric and can play on both wings, so his versatility is very useful. Probably one of the most improved players over the past year.
He is my favourite player. Seemed like such a genuine guy when I had a chat with him and Forestieri in the club shop last season. Didn't get to practice my Spanish with him unfortunately, but maybe I will run into him again one day. I recommended him to my Rangers supporting mate, and he seemed very interested in the fact that Anya is eligible for Scotland.
My favourite Watford player, great bloke and a great talent Unstoppable when he gets going, used to be scared to run at players, now he beats them with ease Pace is probably the biggest asset you can have in football if you learn how and when to use it
Anya's name is now the most frequently mentioned (except Deeney) when it comes to oppo fans. I've seen comments saying how scared they are of him and how he's easily our best player.
