IF we had one I presume people would give him a chance to change the side/style unlike some did when Aidy was first appointed because it probably would take a little whille?

No he wouldn't! You are talking about Leeds..sorry Watford fans here.

If he didn't get us promoted in the first season with slick passing interplay and 3 20 goal strikers then he would be out of his ear.

    Well WFCMoog or Sir F..

No...just thinking as he wants Aidy sacked NOW how long would he and others who want a change in management would give a new guy to sort out the squad and make sure we do improve.

    6 months?
    A season?

Clearly if we did have a real mare then we would have to question the manager again but in realistic terms now long should we give him?

    Sorry are you asking

Would you give the manager longer than the 16 months since last January when Aidy started planning for the championship to improve things ?

I don't expect us to be world beaters, and believe me we have no divine right to be in the premiership, realistically we are a championship size club, but what i do expect is players to play with effort and passion, long ball or short ball.

Dougie often points out, we're not a big team, we haven't massive support, hes dead right. But as paying punters we are entitled to ask for a decent level of performance in return for our mony.

Dario Gradi was a manager for over 20 years and never achieved any more than promotion to the championship. Why ? because of the way his team played and what they put into the club.

Agree until the last bit, bit confused. Gradi is respected for the way his team played - Crewe often played a decent style and with passion but he was always forced to sell his best players so the club was never able to move up the championship and away from the relegation dog fights.

Ironically despite how well he was respected outside Crewe their fans lost faith in him and forced him upstairs - don't know the ins and outs but they aren't doing much better without him in charge...

I'd give him the time it took him to establish his own style and players at the club. Aidy has built this sqaud himself over 3 years and it's utter cack. A new man needs to have the time to build something, possibly over 1.5 - 2 seasons.

I never called for Roeder's head, as it was clear that he was offered no resources to work with and did bloody well considering the restrictions imposed. GT came in though and it was an easy decision for the then board.

In fairness, I never called for ******'s head as I thought he was attempting to build something. He made less disastrous and expensive signings, the football was better and given another half a season, who knows what would have happened. Unfortunately, events outside of the club's control caused a total disaster for the club and the *** took the blame.

That's all history now. I did think Ray was due to get sacked and again I was one of the earlier people to call for his head. Then, as now, I was at first sl@gged off by nearly everybody for being negative, but things continued to decline, then a few people began to agree, performances began to get consistenly poor, then it was unanimously accepted that Ray had taken us as far as he could and he went.

A new manager is needed, for all the reasons I've explained exhaustively on the relevant threads. The new man needs a chance to impose a fresh style and playing staff on the club. Regardless of who's in charge, next season promotion is not going to be a realistic target IMO. We need to turnover 90% of this rotten squad and try and salvage any money from it that we can to rebuild. This will take time and skillful transfer dealing (anyone remember that!?). If our next man is a genius, perhaps he can build for promotion in 2-3 years time. If not, it's back to the old days of Championship drudgery for the forseable future, which is an improvement on the innevitable relegation I forsee under Hoofers.

Interesting you say that because at the time i don't remember anyone calling for his head either. i mentioned on the way back from West Brom that was the best football we played - midfield was one, if not the the strongest i've seen us have. Just defence and attack was weak.

It was outside events that crippled us, but in hindsight he did make expensive and disastrous signings - hence why Issa and especailly Vega are often listed as our worst players.

Well i suppose they at least played (sort off) and suppose you wouldn't mind having a 20k contract a week to finish your career.

It would have be nice to try and pass the ball forwards more quickly and not have the fans blamed for the players losing games which ****** did at times.

Luca was made a scapegoat by the board! It wasn't Luca that authorised Vega and Galli's wages!!

Had the ITV digital thing not collapsed then who knows what would have happened regarding the summer he was sacked!?

We played very good football under Luca, we just lacked a 25 goal a season striker and a couple of decent defenders!

Had he been given another season I honestly think he'd have taken us up!

He could have as long as he wanted, so long as it was clear that progress was being made, and that he had an obvious (and achievable) long term plan.

My patience has gone with Hoofroyd purely because you can not see what his plan is for the future. he has a large squad full of overpaid and overreated players, who only have their own interests at heart. Come the end of the season we will have plenty of players wanting to leave to do better things, yet we can clearly see they are not up to the task.

Hoofroyd has not been able to motivate these players, and it is he who signed them all in the first place. If a replacement manager was to come in and start signing nonsense players on big bucks, whilst making no attempt to play football, or to even contemplate trying plan b every once in a while, then yes I would get on his back, but if he put together a hard working squad, who played FOOTBALL for each other, then I would quite happily enjoy a few years in the champ, so long as I was able to enjoy games once more.

As expensive flops go, Vega and Issa pale in comparison to Lump, who's transfer fee alone cost more than the two of them cost in total. Is Matt Jackson the new Vega (at least Vega could get into the side)?

    Ummmm...I'm afraid not.

Ellington was affordable (Of course taking up the WHOLE bloody budget so we can't buy anyone for MIDFIELD!!). He was more expensive, but relatively he was cheaper.

V!alli spent money we didn't have (of course the board were the ones at fault)
