My Norton is due up for renewal. Not the cheapest in the world and I'm fed up at the amount of system resources it uses.

Anyone got any good recommendations for an alternative?

I had a programme called Bullguard come with the laptop, it seems pretty decent so could be worth a shout.

The cheapest and best free software is the free version of AVG .

The other thing you can do is become a beat tester for Norton , that way you get it for free :) or possibly just take up on the free trial periods of all the Ant-virus out there . Microsofts own is on a 90 day trial (may be less now not checked) , Bullguard is normally on a 30 to 60 day free trial and you can normally get norton on a 15 day , although they normally have 2 diffirent versions for trial. All are fully working versions and worst case you could use the trial periods to evaluate which you feel is best . Just remember to uninstall all other anti-virus software before installing new as it will cause conflicts with each other.

I use Avast which is also free and seems to run smoother for me than AVG did.

Cheers for the recommendation. Actually have AVG installed but forgot about it. Seems pretty good. Giving Avast a go as I type.

I always use Mcafee and it has not let me down. I started with Norton but found it to be difficult to get to grips with and I spent too much time on it. Therefore it had to be binned to the blue square conference

Mcafee is easy to use and lets you get on with the important things like the forum. :]]

I use Zonealarms, also check that your ISP is compatable with the anti-virus you download or before you buy it.

I just recently done a 2 year deal upgrade with Zonealarms and it cost me £14-00 which is cheap as its done in dollars.
