Unfortunately all too commonplace. Whether it is domestic pets or wildlife , a small minority of scumbags (who also end up committing other crimes) are all too often a target. The epithet a nation of animal lovers does get rather stretched at times.
Sickeningly, the same monsters are the ones who will be stamping on someone's head until it goes soft underfoot, because they felt like it one time. Put them out of our misery.
