I think I'm at the end of my tether with this player. I shall donate £10 to wildlife and conservation charities for every goal he scores until the end of the season. I shall donate £20 to wildlife and conservation charities for every game he plays and doesn't score. It's the only way I can stand the thought of this imbecile wearing the shirt again. It must be some kind of bet that I haven't understood.
I still can't believe Leeds were after him, and I still can't believe we turned them down. What a wasted opportunity. Another huge **** up from the club.
Just give him time to adjust to the much harder division. Starts in PL for WFC 36, goals 11 Starts in Champ this season 9, goals 1 The Championship is a tough league!
I'm surprised at how upset people get, yes. He's a crap footballer. Frustrating he is still starting but not worth getting overly upset over but the responses to ANY tweet by the club seem to be littered with people on the verge of tears about him.
He's absolute ******* dog turd beyond anything I've ever seen. There is no debate to be had any more. An utterly **** football player who literally cannot connect with, run with, pass or control a football to the standard you would expect of even a semi-professional footballer, and who effectively doesn't contribute whatsoever even now that we've stepped down a level. The useless **** has scored 1 goal that whacked him on the arse and he knew Jack all about in 14 appearances in the Championship and still some try and defend him, despite his years of proving what a horrendous pile of crap he is. The absolute worst signing in the clubs history and it's not up for debate. 18 ******* million for someone who genuinely has the technical skill level of a Sunday league striker and who has repeatedly proven himself a moron to boot.
At this point no one actually cares what you think. It's clear you either haven't got a clue about anything, are related to Gray, in love with Gray, are a troll or, mostly likely, all of the above. Your opinions are illogical, awful and nonsensical so just be gone with you, peasant.
Its the fact that I have a clue that gives this forum some savvy. The more we have like me the better the forum.
I'm sorry. He looked adorable. It's a privilege to have a pet or pets. Unlike that nitwit masquerading as a forward. I hear it is Mozart's birthday today,265. I'll be close to that by the time he scores again. Lacrimosa indeed!
Manat, I have no personal issue with you whatsoever and respect everyone right to an opinion. But surely to God you must find it hard to defend Gray and any of his 'performances' for us in recent memory? A couple of goals 2 and a bit years ago does not justify his selection in this team, nor does it buy him time or patience with fans that he might 'rediscover' form he has never shown for us? And I don't usually care for footballers personal lives either, but to do what he has done in these times on more than one occasion says all you need to know about his character. Some mention Ellington as the worst striker Watford have had, but given Gray cost 6 times more, is on massive wages and was signed as a Premier League quality striker, he is out on his own as the biggest flop I've seen in my time following the club.
Ellington and Watford didn't click, but he was still twice the player Gray is - he could actually control a football for a start.
No problem, all part of pet ownership sadly. New dog has just turned 2... As for Gray, I don't think I ever comment about players on here as I generally don't know what I'm talkng about, but I hope he never plays for us again. Can't see it though...
Yeah, while Ellington was awful for us and manifestly unsuited to how Boothroyd wanted to play, he wasn't anywhere near as bad as Gray. Certainly in terms of talent/money wasted. At least in Ellington's case we managed to recoup and save SOME of our money on him by loaning him out a couple of times. Whereas with Gray, Gino stupidly doubled down and didn't get rid of him when we had the chance. Now we're riddled with his insane wages and sh1tty influence for another year and a half. I think I can recall three happy memories of Gray playing for us. Goals against Palace and Leicester, and the assist against Wolves. Not nearly good enough.
Overall I haven't if you have been reading my posts in respect of this season. You will have noticed that I have said I no longer want Deeney and Gray at the club as they are no longer as good as they were. Remarks like "he's always been awful" or " the worst player we've ever had" or "the worst signing we've ever had" simply isn't true. And happy to repeat it....Gray isn't Watford's worst ever signing. Some others have agreed too and mentioned names that have been worse when this was discussed in a bit more detail in previous posts on this thread.
True you have said this about both Gray and Deeney, even though Deeney atleast has been showing some heart and passion lately. But sorry Gray is the worst signing this club has ever made. Nobody even comes close. The fee and wages v goals scored proves this. It's his attitude that is getting to me now. Head in his hands when Sarrs shot is saved. Nothing when gets in Hughes way ballooning it high and wide. As I said before Tommy Mooney had some stinkers for Watford but he made up for these performances by throwing his body in, chasing down balls, launching into tackles and closing down the opposition. I don't see Gray showing that effort, he looks half hearted in everything he does.
Point 1 - it isn't enough. Both strikers not scoring enough goals in open play. Point 2 - You have already admitted you are a hater of the player, so no matter whatever anyone says, you wont have anything positive to say about him. In a nutshell you will continue to sound like a broken record. Point 3 - not sure what makes you an expert on player attitudes. Unless you are some sort of body language psychologist which I very much doubt. If he had a major attitude problem the manager wouldn't have him anywhere near the side as it would bring the motivation of the team down.
True they're not scoring enough from open play but Ďeeney is creating opportunities and assists atm from a deeper role. Plus putting his penalties away. So imo he is much improved since Xisco got here, apart from the Swansea game. True I do hate Gray and rightly so. Imo he offers the team nothing and is only holding back Pedro. Who does and has scored from open play. Again your correct I'm not a body language psychologist, it's my opinion that I've witnessed. I obviously view football in a totally different way to you and that's ok. So one question to you and I won't bother you or this thread again. In your opinion who is Watford's worst ever signing and why?
There have been a few that have been bad ones. Ellington, Vega, Senior, Kabba, Moralee, Rinaldi, Success for example. These players were mentioned on pages 27 and 28 of this thread by me and others. Hard to pin down the absolute worst out of them, maybe Ellington with a return of 5 goals in 51 games.
He probably is when you take into consideration the amount of money he has cost us in transfer fee and wages.
I said if I had to pin one down and that it was a hard choice. Feel free to pick another from the list.
Not really because players cost different amounts over the years. What was expensive years ago isn't now. For example Ellington at the time was a record signing but that amount in today's money is small. Similarly, Gray would've cost what he cost us back then.
