I assume you havent seen the tweet then? One of Gray's tweets read: "Is it me or are there gays everywhere? #Burn #Die #Makesmesick".
I've seen photos of that but not the actual tweet not sure if that's photoshopped. Lots of other homophobic, sexist and general nonsense tweets floating about now. Not sure what you can do though? FA can't tell him off, Burnley won't sack him, no repercussions really.
When he was at Hinkley apparently. Hardly social media ruining one of his best days (if it's legit). He's ruined it for himself by being a hate filled biggot.
Oh dear, must be something to do with the name Andre/Andy etc, prone to making a sap of yourself. Not to mention homophobic, bigoted pillock.
so sad. if you can't contribute to culture of hate and violence, then what's the point in anything? poor lad
https://twitter.com/AndreGray7 He wrote the tweets four years ago when he was a kid, has grown up since then and apologised. I did some things Im not proud of in my younger days, Im sure a lot of you did also. Think for yourselves and dont run with the crowd.
I don't know. I'll openly say I was homophobic about 5 years ago when I was 14/15, I am not anymore as my understanding grew. Gray was 19/20 when he wrote those tweets, doesn't mean he still holds them views.
Its just people joining a witchhunt without thinking for themselves that saddens me, massive downside of social media, so many sheep.
Poor lad? Poor lad?? This isn't like he was some 13 year old kid, making little comments for attention. He was about 20, and basically a pro-footballer, in the public eye. Some disgusting views, shared on a worldwide platform by a grown man, and he deserves the criticism he's receiving. Maybe I'm cynical, but I highly doubt his personality has changed that much over 3/4 years, just that he's more savvy with that type of thing now he's more in the public eye.
If you're calling for gay people to burn and die it's unlikely that four years later you've changed your views. He was 21 when he said that. Even as a 12/13 year old I would have known what a disgusting comment that was. That tweet is only one of many anyway. A lot of generally hateful tweets of his have been found with horrible stuff about race, women and people with mental health issues expressed. I'm very much thinking for myself when I say that he seems to be a right little pr*ck.
http://www.espnfc.com/burnley/story...eys-andre-gray-over-homophobic-tweets-reports Seems a touch over the top, if I'm being honest. I suppose they've got to make a statement somehow, even if it involves taking punitive measures four years post-incident.
For me there's no issue at all with the FA taking action. He was a footballer at the time he posted the comments and he still is now. So it's absolutely within their remit. The fact no one gave a monkey's about him when he was a no mark at Hinckley and it comes out now he's a PL footballer is his problem, not the FAs.
With the precedent the fa have already set, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a ban. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/30/robert-huth-two-match-ban-twitter-fa https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/10/coventry-city-defender-handed-one-game-ban-posting-homophobic-tweet-chris-stokes http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3126937/Ryan-Tunnicliffe-banned-two-matches-FA-derogatory-Twitter-post-Middlesbrough-Patrick-Bamford.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2820744/Rio-Ferdinand-not-appeal-three-game-FA-ban-using-word-sket-Twitter.html Not concerned if the tweets were made before he was in the public eye, he was old enough to know what an appalling thing that was to say. Similarly if you had something homophobic on your social media, applied for a job and a prospective employer saw it - you would expect repercussions. The fact that it was in the past won't matter.
