[SIGNED perm] Andre Gray signs for club record fee

18.5m seems very top heavy for a player in the last year of their contract... that said it's always the case of either paying more now and being the only ones in for him, or paying less or nothing later, but competing against 6-7 teams and very likely not getting him. Also if you forget what stage of his contract he is, when you compare some of the prices bandied around for Troy of £25-£30m it's just the going rate for an average PL striker.

Very worrying if you don't care about Little Mix!

 

Burnley fans don't seem overly fussed. I get the impression that a lot of them have resigned themselves to a miserable season though.

 

So, if this goes through at the rumoured £18 mill we're nearing on £65 mill spent so far this year, have the bed wetters calmed down now?

Good signing, and if we're sticking with the one up front it'll be interesting to see who gets the nod, I imagine Deeney could be spending a fair bit on the bench this season.

Imagine having Roberto Peyera as your record signing and then he ****s off back to Italy after another terrible season, or worse, his relegation release clause is activated and he's playing for West Ham come 2018/2019.

If you look at his entire record his games goals ratio is very good ! better than what we currently have . I would pleased if we got him The amounts of money mentioned is eye watering ! However crazy prices wont go away ! If you want goal scoring strikers you will have to make them (invest in academies)scout them or buy them ,heartening to see we are doing all.

 

Let's hope their still this friendly when they're competing for one starting place!

With his Scum past and unpleasant social media comments I can understand why some would be unhappy with Gray's arrival, but, personally, if I thought he'd bring a bit pace and menace to our attack, I'd be happy for us to sign President Assad

 

unless they buy Destro or Simeone with our money that is

 

With Silva playing counter style we could end up looking like Zolas 12/13 team of legends .

Deeney=Deeney
Chalobah=Chalobah

And Djdjede filling the one EPL allocated slot for barrel chested players formerly held by Battochio.

 

Not sure Gray is the answer to all our problems but he is not only an extra striker but a different kind of striker to what we have. And we need both.

Hoping that this doesn't mean Deeney is off.

 

If Gray does sign then I'd prefer him and Deeney up top. When we have 2 up front we have been better because we don't have goalscorers in midfield.

 

Gray is no Vydra

 

It's a lot of money but that's what's needed these days to land a decent striker, and he actually has PL experience (considering Assombalonga went for just 3m less). I'd be happy with this, just the sort of player we need.

 

I'd feel guilty yelling at him to shoot, however.

 

Yeah the only way to get value is to buy from abroad but that has a bigger inherent risk .

Am happy to buy proven this season so we can hit the ground running , finish mid table and then buy in a Simeone type player next season.

 

Burnley fans on their boards are rejoicing how clever they've been in getting nearly £50 for Keane and Gray whilst completely forgetting they spent £10m on Jack Cork and have Sam Vokes up front. Oh and Jonathan Walters, Paul Merson's 'Signing of the season'...

 

We are going to buy him and then loan him back to Burnley for the season
