When Dyche goes, and he eventually will have to go - who do people realistically envisage or wish for the manager's position?

    Wish for?
Glenn Hoddle - he's got something to prove, plays decent football and has that academy for cast off youngsters so can work with cheap young players too.
Never be able to afford him though.

Personally I think it's disrespectful talking about Dyche's replacement while he's still in the job. He may or may not be the right man for the job, but talking about the next manager as if he has already gone, is not the time. Something has to change though, and I dont think the answer lies with just working harder on the training field. Maybe appointing a mentor would be an option. GT seems reluctant, but would be perfect for the role. Malky had Burkinshaw and even Togers had all his Chelsea contacts to rely on. Dyche doesn't appear to have any support. We dont have stacks of cash, so sacking the manager would cost a lot of money in settling contracts, not forgetting all the backroom staff etc. The turmoil this causes could be worse than sticking with the manager we have. It's easy to sack a manager, but what happens if there are no better options out there?

Wish for - Karl Robinson at MK Dons. Encourages good football, good at working with young players and small budgets. Talks a lot of sense. Won't come though as he seems a very loyal bloke.

Wish for - Paul Tisdale or maybe Graham Westley.

Out of work wish for - Sean O' Driscoll.

A few names we could potentially afford (big bad baz may need to dig deep) and may actually want to come to us:

    Lee Clark
    Derek McInnes
Billy Davies (I know he's a **** but we need someone with experience)
    Gary Johnson
    Sean O'Driscoll
    Martin Allen
    Dave Jones
Andy Hessenthaler (probably not everyones choice but his managerial record on no money isn't bad at all)

There is no point going for another inexperienced, in managerial terms, i.e. Gibbs. We need a manager thats got some experience of working on a tight budget and has had some decent results in the past.
I would have more confidence in all the above to get more out of our current squad (youngsters included) than Dyche currently is.

This thread is in bad taste.

I think the answer is to appoint somebody in the backroom team with experience of attacking coaching and let them set up some training moves. We are set up to win the ball but do nothing with it, suggesting that nobody in the backroom team has any idea how to create attacking football. I think if we got in a Burkinshaw figure then it would bring some fresh (actually just any would be good) ideas on how to create a team able to craft attacking moves rather than win the ball, pass it aimlessly and then hoof it.

I still support Dyche, and I think most Watford fans do. We just don't support dire non-football where you have no chance of ever scoring goals. Why exactly we pay money to watch a team incapable of stringing a reasonable attack together in 90 minutes is beyond me. I like Dyche being manager, but I don't like what he is doing. In fact, I'm not sure he is entirely sure what he is supposed to be doing either. The answer is to get somebody in to assist him who can make us do something productive with the ball after we win it.

I normally think your spot on with yours posts, this is a pretty stupid post. Clearly Dyche doesn't have the support of most Watford fans, is that not pretty obvious by the 54% of our fans who have voted 'Get rid now'. I don't understand your mentality in the slightest, what good is a ****ing manager who's team in your words, play "dire non-football where you have no chance of ever scoring goals" - we did the correct moral thing by giving Sean a chance, it's not worked out, lets correct the mistake before we're cast adrift. The guy is clueless, and is stubborn is appalling football ethos, and is the least dynamic or interesting man I have ever come across in relation to football. Open your eyes, this is the most inept Watford team I have ever seen, our squad isn't that bad, our manager is ****ing appalling. Oh and just to add that, the players absolutely despise him, young players all want out, Hodson never wants to work with Dyche again, Loach isn't happy at being dropped for no reason, to a far weaker goalkeeper, Sordell is disillusioned with the style of football, and Whichelow will never play again.

The bottom line here is that Bazza has no money therefore we cannot afford an experienced successful manager or pay any compensation to another club. O'Driscoll is therefore probably the only realistic option unless we go with another inexperienced manager. One player who I think potentially would be a good manager is Gareth Ainsworth in view of his commitment and enthusiasm for the game with GT guiding him.

Firstly, no need to be so angry.

Secondly, I think you are forgetting that you have inside knowledge. I have no idea what the players think, I have no idea about what he is like as a person. All I know is he has always come across well, even if he is doing a really sh it job as manager and he used to player for us which gives a bit of a soft spot for him.

If the players despise him, and all want to leave of course he should go. How exactly am I supposed to know they do? All I can see is us playing dreadful football under a manager who I assumed was well liked but not doing a very good job. The players look miserable, but they are losing every game so they would do. From the outside it looks like an honest bloke who doesn't know what he is doing managing a team badly. If everyone hates him and he isn't going to change of course he should go. All I know is what I see for 90 minutes on a Saturday.

GT may well find the escape from being Chairman he has been looking for is to become the advising role to another manager.

That way he stays involved with the club, the club doesn't lose face at GT walking out as Chairman

Sorry, perhaps an over reaction, and of course none of this stuff is conclusive - just bits and pieces i've heard and am very worried about. What I do know for sure is than Sean is VERY stubborn, and will not change his footballing philosophy. He is a great guy, and I hope that if he does get displaced as manager we let him maintain a lesser role at the club - he'd struggle to get work elsewhere after this experience. I just can't help but feel in the club's best interests it's the right time for a change, he deserved a chance, but unsurprisingly 1 in every 5 inexperienced managerial appointments is likely to throw up a dud. The results are one thing, but the performances are nothing short of disgraceful, I have never seen such unmotivated players.

Did you hear the guy on 3counties after the game? He said he went to watch an academy game, asked for a signed shirt from the academy players from dyche, and his reply was do you think we're an effing charity. It surprised me at first, but now it doesn't.

  20. Oscar calling

If this is true then Dyche should be immediately sacked or the club announce that they no longer wish to be associated as being a family and/or community club! Whilst I accept the club cannot give shirts away at least the Manager should act in a civilised manner.

I was told yesterday by someone very high up that he's "a clever boy" and going absolutely no where, but then it came to mind that if he was going be sacked, i'm sure they would tell him before me. So it seems not, but my instincts tell me after a another long winless run, it will be made obvious he can't stay.

the technical ability in this team is better than some before. However, it seems impossible for them to get any kind of tempo to their play. we can't counter attack for toffee, its a mess.

they're thinking about things too much and that leads to hesitations and slow safe passing.

they need ideas and motivation, to me dyche has none.

I hate to say this but we do need to get rid of the stubborn bar steward. I was all for him when he was appointed as I thought he was going to keep up the same football we played last season, but it didn't turn out that way. I really wanted him to succeed but by the look's of it it's not going that way. The football is disgustingly and embarassingly bad, he has absolutely no alternative tactic's other than hoof and hope. I do think he has signed some great player's however tthey have no belief in him by the looks of it. If the shirt remark is true he should be strung up by the knackers off the South West corner. If he were to go I would like to see Sean O'Driscoll as he is a competent enough manager.

Bas should look at the old football maxim: If in doubt....

Bas won't sack him, as it would mean paying him off & that's just not his style, Dyche won't walk as he is stuborn.

We are stuck with him, which is a really bad thing, unless we do get someone to give him guidance

Simple, we just engineer a situation where Malky renews his interest and poaches him for Cardiff.

We get shot of a dead weight and claim some compo.
