Am I right in thinking...

...that Gavin Mahon was quoted in the Wobby yesterday, saying something along the lines of:

'I see myself as the complete midfielder, one that can get the ball down and open up a defence with my passing'

No, I don't think he said that. At least if you're going to s1ag someone off make sure the facts are correct.

In fact his interview is very understated.

"I want to get back in the Premiership with Watford but that's out of my hands. All I,m doing is taking it game by game."

Asked if negotiations on his contract had not started by January would he look elsewhere he said:

"I'm 30 now and you've got to look to the future. Your family comes first and if there is nothing on the table then you have to accept it and see what path you go down next. I'm not really thinking about it. My wife is but I'm not."

Like his football or not he has been a genuine and honest player for this club and we would have been worse off without him over the last 4-5 seasons.

 

I did actually say 'am I right in thinking' and also 'saying something along the lines of'....pretty safe to say I didn't know the facts, it was more a rhetorical question!

I hope to God he doesn't get a new contract!
