Why are people talking like Jakubiak is really going to have any sort of involvement this season? Nowhere near good enough.

 

Because as it stands he's in and around the first team squad.

If we sign a forward (or forwards) then he'll be less and less likely to be involved or mentioned as likely to be involved.

 

Arguably worse than the over abundance of wingers I outlined above. 6 strikers fighting for one spot??

Perenada around the squad and the under-23's (and cover for obligatory injuries to Deulofeu and Pereyra).

Jakubiak out on loan or in the under-23's.

I mean, yeah I agree that sounds good in theory. I’d be surprised if we find many suitors for Success, Jakubiak or Okaka though really.

 

I'll be honest, I don't think any of that will happen if Gracia continues with playing 4-4-2 anyway. It was pure speculation on my part if WFC buy Garcia and trying to find a way the current squad fits with so many of that type of player. It got my brain working anyway after a dozy afternoon in the heat!

According to this Spanish site, the local press say the player has agreed terms with Watford, just a case of finalising a fee with Cadiz.

There has been much speculation during the past weeks about the future of Álvaro García and Espanyol, the Cádiz player has been followed closely by the sports management team, but the reality is that the parakeet club has not made any official movement for the player, at least to date.

In this sense from Cadiz it is assured that his final destination could be the English Watford, precisely the team where this season will play Marc Navarro, the former parrot signed for the team that runs the Spanish, Javi Gracia, and that now could also be done with the services of this coveted yellow club player.

In the Cadiz press say that the agreement between the English club and Alvaro Garcia is already closed and only is waiting for an agreement between both clubs to formalize the signing of the Sevillian winger by Watford.

Well clearly not the only criteria but he is clearly and openly declaring we aren't what he wants so drop the offer. Can't wait around as our window closes so let him hope for better things and if they don't appear then his loss and he can warm the bench for another 6 months.

Might be his agent holding out for more money. Can’t say for certain he wouldn’t be excited to play in the premier league, even if we aren’t the team of his dreams. But we’re not anyone’s dream, are we? We can offer premier league football and proximity to London. That will be enough for some players to come here, hoping they can impress and move up in the world. I’ll gladly take a season (or two) of goals from Alcácer before someone else, more glamorous snaps him up.

I’d say the second part of your post is more accurate than the first - the deals on the table and he’s willing to sign it if deadline day swings around and he has no other offers. But I agree he’s probably waiting for those better offers - one of which is likely to come at the Nth hour as clubs around us get desperate so his flight detours to Southampton/West Ham/Leicester (delete as applicable) as our crack medical team are sat scratching their heads at London Colney. All the while, Leventhal breaks the news for the 2nd time that we’ve signed ’the most talented young South American to play in La Liga since Messi’ in Penaranda as Okaka lumbers breathlessly past Leventhal live on SSN.

Celta Vigo have announced Juan Hernandez (seemingly Garcia's replacement) has moved to Cadiz on loan.

Cadiz have said they'll officially unveil Hernandez at 12:30pm. Is that 11:30, 12:30 or 1:30pm here? Where are we with GMT right now!

In my fantasist world Cadiz may then announce Garcia's departure to us.

In November WFC confirm Garcia's signature.

He's not necessarily Garcia's replacement, Hernandez plays more on the right, Garcia more on the left.

 

As desperate as I am for us to make signings, I'm not quite in the fantasy world where I dream of us signing players from the Spanish 2nd division (who I didn't even know existed before last week) yet!

 

Yes agree, he's more like the cheap punts we have had on RB and LB this summer. One that might come off but might well not.

 

To be fair, I said my fantasist world - meaning everything is a fantasy - rather than Garcia being a fantasy signing. Although if my whole world is a fantasy then Garcia would be a fantasy signing. I tell you, having mental health problems (for me, a real situation) makes things very complicated at times. On the plus side I'm now confident in using italics to emphasise certain words. The Cadiz president has said no firm offers have actually been made for the player but the club will have outgoings in the next few days.
