just a qucik question if you dont mind, when you signed williamson and hoskins from us, there was a clause in it saying if you went up we get some money? anyone know how much and does it matter if williamson and hoskins are in the teams as hoskins is out on loan and williamson isnt in the team? thanks in advance Up The Millers
Hoskins is looking to go to Mllwall so Im guessing you will get some percentage of that fee IF he does go.
To be honest if we don't pull our fingers out over the next few weeks it ain't going to happen anyway so be purely academic.
thanks, but our chairman said if you went up, we are ment to get some money out of it, doubt it will be much, but i would accept having a couple of million :]] were doing well, joint second and are plaing well. only lost 4 games this season now and only 1 away. happy days at the moment you seem to be doing well, although you have been on a little bad run, hope you can pick it up and win the league, as i have got you to win it Up The Millers
That clause sounds dubious to me since we were in the Premiership when we bought the lads. There may have been a staying up clause, but I doubt that they bothered to include the option of going down and getting re-promoted. You got around a million for the two of them, which was a fair price, especially since you needed the money at the time and we lent you a couple of player for free. I am sad that you did not manage to escape relegation and think we should probably have lent one or both of your lads back to you when it became apparent that they would have limited action for us last year, but that's life, I s'pose.
you might be right, it may just be a sell on clause for both players, but just heard it was if you went up. thanks anyway for clearing that up good luck for the rest of the season and make sure you beat the pigs and blades :]] Up The Millers also if you have any good players who are not getting in the team, im sure we can find a place for them, i have heard that marlon king is ment to be good, he could get a few goals in our league lol
You joke about King, but you could quite easilly take the likes of Priskin and Ellington, we wouldn't miss their 5 minute contribution at the end of a match :.
There could be clause along the lines of "if Watford are still a Premiership side at the start of the 2008/9 season then..." Unlikely though, more likely just to be a straight sell-on.
At the end of the season I am sure we can give you them back for free. Williamson is in the team by default since the rest of our midfield is injured or being deported and doesn't look anywhere near good enough even for this division let alone the next one up, and Hoskins has made about two appearances in a year.
There'll only be a sell-on if we make a profit on the sales, but I can't see that happening if we sell Hoskins to Millwall. Sad for both us and The Millers. I wouldn't be too upset about the relegation - it's better to be top of a lower division than bottom of a higher one...
Where were you at the start of the season and last few games :dismay: Mayb he should start hoofing it up in the air all the time, huffing and puffing like Mahon >:]] Did alright in the last fews games in the prem aswell but im saying he is a prem player just a good enough champ player. Hoskins has quality but doesnt suit out style of play and hasnt actually been given a chance yet. Maybe he slagged of Mahon at the start of the season? :]]
You have hit the nail on the head of all our problems. We have a squad full of Championship players who will never make it in the prem. Look at the squads that the bottom 6 teams (bar Derby) have in the prem to realise that if Williamson, Hoskins etc etc are the best we can get/attract then we are where we should be a top 10 championship team. Realistically who enjoyed that season in the prem overinflated prices lasyt match on match of the day and everybody loving our endeavour whilst knowing one odf the relegation places was filled day 1.
Not me, but I'm a realist. One more year of the milk and honey of the Premiership and barring an absolute abhoration this club will be set up for a very long while. The stadium will be polished off and the club will be stable.
Well said, i hope there's a clause where you get them back if we go back up, seeing as they'll both be horribly out of their depth.
But Hoskins is not the best we can attract. He is lucky to be getting a game in League One. We have since attracted Rinaldi, Ellington, McAnuff and a few more, although McANuff is crap I feel he could improve into a premiership player, as could the other two
Absolutely right, and while I didn't particularly enjoy the Prem season it was worth going through for the Play-off Final win!
